‘I Was On Your Show’: Demi Lovato Recalls Raven Symone’s Hilarious Reaction To Former Forgetting They Worked Together

The heartfelt conversation between Demi Lovato and Raven Symone, two powerhouses of talent, was a poignant reminder of the struggles they faced in their respective journeys.


The Hulu documentary titled “Child Star,” produced by Demi Lovato, is now available for streaming. On its debut episode, the first guest was the actress from “That’s So Raven,” namely Raven-Symoné.

The duo has a long, heartfelt conversation about their childhood, struggles in the industry and their professional lives, while Lovato also recalls Symone’s first reaction to the former, forgetting that the duo had worked together before. 

During one part of the episode, the actress-singer expressed, “The moment we started discussing this project over the phone, I found myself saying, ‘You were a huge inspiration to me when I watched That’s So Raven.’”

In a subsequent conversation, Lovato told The Little Rascals actor, “You seemed to say, ‘I was on your show!’, and I responded, ‘Oh my goodness, she was.’” Lovato and Symone collaborated on the Disney series Sonny with a Chance, where the vocalist with Confidence was a recurring character. In 2010, Symone made a guest appearance in one episode of the show.

Regarding the Hulu series, “Child Star” serves as Demi Lovato’s directorial first step. Famous personalities from the entertainment world will engage in discussions about their past experiences, revealing how they navigated through difficult times in Hollywood during their youth.

In the initial broadcast, the performer who sang Let It Go expressed, “As a teen, I was utterly drained.” She continued, “We were all struggling to keep afloat, learning to swim as we went along.

Speaking about her time working with The Cosby Show star, Lovato mentioned, “I barely recall much of the show I was in due to my dissociation.” She added, “However, I do remember being challenging to work with because I was in so much distress, and I was hurting deeply.

In a considerate manner, I acknowledged your response, stating, “To be honest, you weren’t exactly warm and welcoming. You didn’t exude the typical ‘Welcome!’ vibe. However, given my nature and the length of time I’ve spent in this industry, I could sense that there was more to you than just initial impressions. I chose not to judge based on that first encounter.
