Fans Declare ‘The Penguin’ Episode 1 The Greatest TV Pilot Ever: “Just finished and I’m f**** HOOKED”

As a die-hard Batman fan with over three decades of comics under my belt and countless movies watched, I must say that ‘The Penguin’ series is nothing short of spectacular! Having grown up reading the dark and gritty tales of Oswald Cobblepot, this show has truly captured the essence of his character. The pilot episode was a rollercoaster ride of suspense, intrigue, and brutality – exactly what I crave in my superhero stories.

Over two years have passed since “The Batman,” directed by Matt Reeves and featuring Robert Pattinson, graced movie theaters. This production garnered appreciation from both critics and viewers for its moody setting and focus on Batman’s investigative abilities.

Currently, Reeves is developing the second installment titled ‘The Batman 2,’ slated for release in October 2026. Until then, enthusiasts can indulge in ‘The Penguin’ series, as its debut episode has recently aired.

‘The Penguin’ unfolds a week following the events of ‘The Batman Part 1,’ after the demise of Carmine Falcone. With power relations in flux, Penguin aims to seize control of the vacant position. Facing off against Sofia Falcone, this series is shaping up to be brutal and ominous, as Colin Farrell himself puts it.

The pilot episode certainly lived up to this description, showcasing the extreme lengths Penguin is willing to go to in order to dominate the city. Critics have given it rave reviews, and now that the show has premiered, fans are echoing those enthusiastic responses as well.

The opening scene unfolds swiftly following the Seawall’s breach and Falcone’s murder, leaving the family leadership in a precarious state under Alberto Falcone. In a vulnerable moment, Cobb acts impulsively, triggering a feud between two powerful criminal clans and drawing him into the orbit of Sofia Falcone, who has recently been discharged from Arkham Asylum.
