Netflix unveiled a captivating sneak peek of The Sandman season 2, inspired by Neil Gaiman’s DC graphic novel. In this glimpse, we catch a glimpse of Norse deities Thor, Loki, and Odin. The second season will delve into the ‘Season of Mists’ narrative. Gwendoline Christie, portraying Lucifer, abdicates her throne in Hell, leaving Dream (Morpheus) in control. This decision causes a rift in Hell, with numerous immortals competing to seize power, hoping that Dream will bestow the key upon them.
In the short video segment, we see Thor (played by Laurence O’Fuarain), Loki (portrayed by Freddie Fox), and Odin (acted by Clive Russell) attending a feast that is being hosted by Dream. According to Variety, Allan Heinberg, who serves as both the executive producer and showrunner, describes this gathering as one that Dream organizes for various visiting deities, gods, and fairies.
In Season 2, several new characters have joined the cast: Ruairi O’Connor portrays Dream’s son Orpheus, Douglas Booth takes on the role of Cluracan, Ann Skelly plays Nuala, Steve Coogan voices Barnabas the dog, Jack Gleeson assumes Puck’s character, and Indya Moore brings Wanda to life. Additionally, Dream’s siblings make an appearance this season. They include Destiny (Adrian Lester), Delirium (Esmé Creed-Miles), Death (Kirby), Prodigal (Barry Sloane), along with the twins Desire and Despair played by Mason Alexander Park and Donna Preston respectively. All of them are present at a tumultuous family gathering in this season.
The featurette also includes interviews with Tom Sturridge, Allan Heinberg, Kirby, and director Jamie Childs. However, Neil Gaiman is not shown in the clip.
Lately, Neil Gaiman has been accused of sexual misconduct, allegations he denies. As a result, the creation and filming of several adaptations based on his works, including Dead Boy Detectives, Good Omens, The Graveyard Book, and others, have either been put on hold or cancelled.
Despite the fact that Warner Bros. TV’s The Sandman season 2 has yet to premiere, it is scheduled for release in 2025 on Netflix.
