‘Everybody Is In Danger’: Outlander Stars Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan Tease The Show’s Upcoming Seventh Season

As a dedicated Outlander fan who has been following this captivating series since its inception, I must say that the anticipation for the second half of season seven is overwhelming. The first part left us hanging with an anticlimactic conclusion and now, after what seems like an eternity, we are finally on the brink of reuniting with Claire, Jamie, and their extended family.

The first part of Outlander’s seventh season premiered on Netflix on June 16, 2023, ending in a somewhat unsatisfying manner for fans. However, the second half is soon to arrive on the streaming platform, bringing back Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe), Jamie (Sam Heughan), and their extended Fraser family.

The actors discussed their upcoming season with Entertainment Weekly, expressing only positive sentiments towards the second half. “War has arrived, putting everyone in peril, even Claire,” Balfe hinted about her character. She disclosed that the penultimate season will weave and untangle a fresh enigma, which she finds “extremely intriguing.

During our discussion, Heughan mentioned that filming the latest season took place in Scotland, a crucial location for the series, both directly and indirectly. Notably, it serves as Jamie’s ancestral home. This suggests that both new and returning members of the Fraser clan will feature prominently this season. The actor further explained, “Jamie is back to resolve lingering matters, mend past relationships, and confront individuals who hold significance for him.

In the upcoming episodes, characters such as Elder Ian (portrayed by Steven Cree) and Jamie’s sister Jenny (Kristin Atherton) reappear, but Sam Heughan describes their return as a mix of joy and sadness for Jamie and Jenny. He hints at some significant challenges that the siblings must face together. Balfe, in agreement with her co-star, suggests there will be moments of heartache following these events.

Jenny’s coming back will also prompt Claire to work on repairing their intricate bond as sisters-in-law, given that their relationship has its complexities. The actress described their dynamic as one with mutual respect and affection, yet Jenny is far from being a soft or easygoing person.

Additionally, Jamie and Claire are going to face a prolonged separation which is disheartening news for ‘Claime’ supporters and the characters alike. As Balfe explains, their separation rarely brings good fortune. In line with this, the actor from Love Again comments that it’s a difficult phase for the Fraser family, but there’s plenty to anticipate!

Outlander season seven, part two, returns on Friday, November 22, on Starz.
