Did AGATHA ALL ALONG Reveal Who Joe Locke’s Teen Character Really Is?

As a longtime Marvel enthusiast and someone who has followed the journey of Wiccan since his comic book debut, I am both excited and intrigued by the enigmatic character we know as “Teen” in Agatha All Along. The suspense surrounding his true identity is like a well-crafted puzzle, and I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation every time I see that squiggly lettering on his mouth.

From the first two episodes of Agatha All Along, all we know about Joe Locke’s mysterious character, simply called “Teen,” is that he’s a 16-year-old gay Westview resident. A resident with quite an interest in witchcraft. He helps to break Agatha out of the spell that Wanda Maximoff placed her under at the end of WandaVision. A spell that lasted three whole years, only weakened by Wanda’s death in Doctor Strange in the Mutliverse of Madness. He essentially tells her he’s the ultimate Agatha fanboy, a fan who knows way too much about her life.

Teen Has a Mystical Sigil Placed on Him

However, when Agatha queries Teen about his identity, his speech seems muffled and she fails to catch his name. Instead, a sequence of cursive letters appear covering his mouth, leaving Agatha unaware of his true identity. Agatha clarifies that these letters are part of a sigil, a secret charm used for concealment. The person or entity who cast the spell on Teen remains unknown. This mystery frustrates Agatha greatly as she currently lacks the power to dispel the enchantment.

In episode two, later on, the two characters go for a car ride together. The teen tries to discuss his origins with Agatha in an attempt at small talk, but due to some mysterious power, neither she nor the audience can understand him. This leaves viewers intrigued and wondering what he is saying. This confusion irritates Agatha even more. Despite not fully understanding it, she senses there’s something unique about this boy.

Is “Teen” Billy Kaplan, a.k.a. Wiccan, or Someone Else?

The general assumption is that the character known as Teen is actually Billy Kaplan, who in the comics is the reborn spirit of Billy Maximoff, Wanda’s son she created within the Hex on WandaVision. In the comics, he transforms into one of Marvel’s prominent LGBTQ characters, Wiccan, a member of the Young Avengers. However, nothing from Agatha All Along has yet supported this theory. Teen expresses a desire to travel the Witches’ Road to learn skills such as blasting, shielding, and levitating – abilities typically associated with Wiccan. Moreover, Agatha points out that only someone exceptionally powerful can break a spell cast by the Scarlet Witch. Might it be because he broke it due to being her son?

Viewers have pointed out that the curvy letters on his mouth seem to form either “WV,” resembling “WandaVision,” or just the letter “M” for Maximoff. However, there are other potential interpretations as well. It’s speculated that he might be Agatha’s son, the one she supposedly surrendered centuries ago in return for the Darkhold. In the comics, this son was named Nicolas Scratch. Yet, it’s puzzling why her son would still be a teenager after so many years. We have a strong hunch that we might not learn the truth about Teen until the final episodes of the series.

When Will Agatha All Along Reveal the Truth about “Teen?”

As a passionate gamer and Marvel fan, I sure hope the creators at Marvel Studios acknowledge the significance of Wiccan to us, particularly those within the LGBTQ+ community. After all, we were left a bit disappointed with Evan Peters’ character in WandaVision, who was hinted as Quicksilver but turned out to be Ralph Bohner instead. If they attempt another bait-and-switch like that, I might just lose my cool. For now, I’m betting that the Teen character is some version of Billy Maximoff, but who knows what the masterminds behind Agatha All Along have up their sleeves?
