‘Spider-Man 4’ Is in the Works and Here Are the Most Interesting Theories About the Movie

As a long-time fan of the wall-crawler, I can confidently say that the upcoming Spider-Man 4 is shaping up to be a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions! With rumors swirling about multiversal villains, symbiotes taking center stage, and even a possible cameo by Iron Man as Mephisto (now wouldn’t that be a twist?), I can hardly contain my excitement.

The story of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is particularly complex because it’s not entirely under the control of Marvel Studios; instead, Sony has the rights to the character. Initially, this meant that the earlier Spider-Man films didn’t align with the main MCU series. However, when Tom Holland stepped into the role, collaboration between Sony and Marvel resulted in three movies featuring the young actor.

The fourth installment of the movie series is in development, though specific details are scarce at present, apart from the confirmation by Kevin Feige that it’s being produced. Intriguing whispers abound, and we’ve taken a closer look to share some captivating rumors with you.

To give you a head start as we approach the release of the new movie, we’ll delve into the top and widely-discussed fan predictions regarding the film. This investigation will be detailed in our upcoming report.

The two-villain multiversal theory

As a dedicated enthusiast, I’m excited to revisit a long-standing hypothesis that has piqued my interest before. It seems the upcoming film will delve into the fascinating realm of multiple universes, and there’s a speculation floating around that claims to have pinpointed the antagonists lurking within this intricate narrative.

It’s being rumored that the upcoming Spider-Man film, Spider-Man 4, might include Venom and The Inheritors as antagonists from different universes. If these rumors are true, we could expect this movie to hit theaters in July of 2026.

A Symbiote theory that goes even further

A fascinating hypothesis we stumbled upon on Twitter proposes that the Symbiotes could have a significant part in the upcoming movie. However, this particular theory takes it a step further…

In my opinion, during the after-credits of Spider-Man 4, we’ll see Spider-Man acquire a symbiote. This encounter with Dr. Doom that might ensue could potentially lead to further struggles for Peter if he’s under the influence of the symbiote. Furthermore, I anticipate that Peter will face additional challenges as well.

More multiversal approaches

A well-known Redditor named Homodemiks, who we’ve cited in a previous article, presents this intriguing hypothesis:

I’m not entirely sure, but I lean towards the idea of the multiverse for this movie. I would have preferred a street-level Phase 5 film followed by a multiverse one in Phase 6, but I suppose Tom Holland will eventually get his grounded movie. Here are some potential plot points that might unfold:

  1. Venom appears in the MCU, and stops a robbery or something like that. He is then about to eat the criminal, as he often does, but Spider-Man (Peter #1) stops him. This leads to a cool fight between the two, but then one of Knull’s monster guys attacks them and they work together. Venom explains the multiversal threat of Knull who has been chasing him down. Peter agrees to help.
  2. Venom and Spider-Man come across the other two Peters early on in the story. Tobey Spider-Man (Peter #2) flips out at the sight of Venom and tries to take him down. Venom is super confused and Peter #1 tries to stop him. Andrew Spider-Man (Peter #3) gets in the middle and diffuses the situation. Peter #2 agrees to leave Venom alone but doesn’t trust him.
  3. at some point later on, a Miles Morales Spider-Man and a Spider-Gwen join the group. If Emma Stone is willing to come back to play Gwen Stacy that would be a cool interaction for Peter #3.
  4. These five Spider-people and Venom work as a team to defeat Knull and his army of symbiotes and monsters. Eddie and Venom become the new King in Black, but Venom leaves a non-sentient (for now) piece of himself behind with Peter #1, giving him the black suit.

As a gamer, I’m speculating that the upcoming events might unfold on Battleworld or within the Marvel Cinematic Universe amidst the incursions causing universe boundaries to falter. Regardless of where it happens, I believe some intriguing plot points could transpire. Personally, I’d find it exciting if Miles Morales made his MCU debut following Secret Wars, skipping over his backstory and diving straight into the action.

Let me know your thoughts and if you’re excited about a multiverse Spider-Man/Venom teamup.

A funny one

After considering multiple intriguing hypotheses, we thought it would be amusing to include an unconventional theory proposed by Reddit user BiggestHat_MoonMan. There may very well be some merit to this idea.

As a diehard fan, I’m excitedly anticipating Spider-Man 4! It promises to be a gritty, multidimensional adventure set on our very streets, yet scaling the heights of Avengers-level action. But that’s not all; it’s also set to deliver a deeply personal slice of life for our friendly neighborhood Spidey, all while taking us on a thrilling interplanetary journey!

This upcoming series is set to feature appearances by Daredevil, Venom, the Kingpin, the Sinister Six, as well as all the Netflix Defenders and all Spider-Women from Madame Web.

It will set the stage for the criminal world of the MCU, and also the Young Avengers.

It will take place entirely in Battleworld.

It will introduce Marvel Legend El Muerte into the MCU.

At the climax of this movie, Spider-Man is expected to knock off Doom’s mask, exposing Robert Downey Jr. disguised as Mephisto. Moreover, Miles Morales from the Spider-Verse could make his live-action debut using advanced CGI effects, with animators working without compensation, and Andrew Garfield may reprise his role as Ben Reilly.

I’m thrilled to say that this movie aims to immortalize the legacy of both my beloved classics: Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends from 1971, and the latest spin-off, Spidey and His Amazing Friends, which debuted in 2021. It’s going to be a fantastic journey!

The movie won’t feature any fresh Spider-Man scenes; rather, it focuses on fleshing out the iconic characters within Spider-Man’s extensive universe.

A poster of Blade will appear in the trailer, but not in the film.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m super excited about the upcoming release of Spider-Man 4, Part One, which is slated for fall within the next one to ten years. However, it’s a bummer to hear that they don’t have plans for Part Two at this time. Here’s hoping they change their minds!
