Apple TV+’s Time Bandits Starring Lisa Kudrow Gets Canceled After One Season

As a devoted admirer of captivating storytelling and exceptional performances, I am deeply saddened by the news that Time Bandits won’t be returning for another season. Having grown up watching Lisa Kudrow shine on the small screen, it was a delight to see her embody a role in this fantastical series.

In simpler terms, Time Bandits didn’t get much airtime because it hasn’t been revived yet for another season. This series, which originally aired on Apple TV+, boasted an impressive ensemble cast, with renowned actress Lisa Kudrow taking a leading role.

Variety announced that the show had been cancelled, a decision made just under a month after the season 1 finale aired on the specified streaming service. The premiere episodes debuted on July 24, with two new episodes added every week until August 21 marked the end of the season.

The TV series revolves around a fantasy tale featuring a band of thieves, including their latest recruit, Kevin – a young boy aged 11. This unique gang traverses through different dimensions to pilfer wealth. The show is the brainchild of Taika Waititi, with Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris contributing as fellow creators. Notably, it’s an adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 1981 project by the same name.

Back in July, Morris had a conversation with the publication regarding the Apple TV+ series and its introduction to a wider audience. He expressed that Time Bandits is almost like a forgotten classic, mentioning it to some people who have never heard of it, but to others, it’s their beloved movie. He emphasized that these films were quite scarce or hard to find.

Morris expressed, “When individuals share their innovative thoughts and vivid imaginations, creating and adapting for a fresh audience, I believe it’s fantastic. Among the finest tunes ever composed are covers.

Personally, I’m thrilled to bits! According to what I’ve read, Clement and Morris are the brilliant minds behind some episodes of my beloved fantasy series. Not only that, but they’ve also taken on executive producer roles along with Garrett Basch, Jane Stanton from Handmade Films, and Tim Coddington. I can hardly wait to see their magic unfold on screen!

Currently inactive, Paramount TV Studios collaborated on this project with MRC Television and the studio known as AC Studios from Anonymous Content.

In addition to the actress from Friends, the show also starred Waititi, Kal El Tuck, Charlyne Yi, Tadhg Murphy, Rune Temte, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Rachel House, Kiera Thompson, Felicity Ward, Imaan Hadchiti, James Dryden, Zoe Ventoura, George Houvardas, Matt King, and Francesca Mills.
