As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the nuances of on-screen chemistry and the behind-the-scenes camaraderie that often makes or breaks a series, I find myself deeply moved by the heartfelt reminiscence of Sarah Rafferty and Rick Hoffman about their time spent together on Suits. Their shared laughter, improvised scenes, and the freedom to explore their characters resonate with me in a way that only a fellow art enthusiast can understand.
Sarah Rafferty and her fellow actor Rick Hoffman have reminisced about their beloved experiences working side by side on the set of their successful legal drama series, Suits. Over the course of nine seasons that ended on September 25, 2019, Rafferty embodied Donna Roberta Paulsen, and Hoffman brought Louis Marlowe Litt to life. Sarah Rafferty and Rick Hoffman recently got together at the 2024 Epic Cons, where they reminisced about their time on Suits and discussed ways they fine-tuned certain scenes. As reported by People magazine, when asked to choose their favorite moment from the Suits set, they found it challenging to select just one.
The actor expressed that condensing nine years of cherished work experience into a single moment is too difficult for him because of all the people he enjoys working with. He further added, “I wish I could provide a straightforward answer, but unfortunately, I can’t point to just one memory as it encompasses so much more.
In an affectionate recollection, Rafferty reminisced about a memorable scene from season 1 where her character, Donna, secreted tickets within her blouse and later laid them on Louis’ desk, catching his attention.
In an interview, the actress from All Things Valentine shared that they had the opportunity to “ad-lib most of that scene,” further mentioning, “Often when we worked together, we could add our own touches.” Rafferty elaborated that the camera kept rolling, enabling them to extend their performance beyond what was shown on screen. She reminisced fondly, “It became so absurd at times, and the kind of laughter I miss in my life – the laughter shared with Rick.
Later on, Hoffman conveyed that the ability to delve into his character was the creative endeavor he found both “freeing and exhilarating.” He characterized these instances as being filled with a sense of excitement and a rush.
During a casual chat at the gathering, the actress from Chicago Med admitted that she secretly took items from the set as a memento, keeping a tangible piece of her character, Donna Paulsen. She jokingly mentioned, “I basically took stuff, loads of clothes, I even have Donna’s couch… I don’t think anyone will reclaim it. I got some great outfits. Many of my shoes actually bear the name ‘Donna’.
Meanwhile, all nine seasons of Suits are available to stream on Netflix.
