As a passionate fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation every time Tom Hiddleston shares his thoughts about Loki’s future adventures. His portrayal of the God of Mischief has been nothing short of captivating, and it’s fascinating to hear him reflect on the characters Loki never had the chance to meet within the MCU.
There’s no need for an introduction when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with its epic plots, memorable characters, and captivating narratives! For more than a decade, acclaimed actor Tom Hiddleston has brought the character Loki to life in the MCU.
Although Loki has encountered Thor, there are several characters like Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, Doctor Strange, Thanos, and alternate versions of himself who he has yet to come across.
In a 2023 interview with ComicBook.com, Hiddleston spoke about Loki Season 2. When asked who from the Marvel Cinematic Universe he’d like to share screen time with and potentially revisit, this was his response:
Tom Hiddleston pondered over the Marvel characters Loki missed out on encountering, pointing out that Loki’s storylines never intersected with those of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, the Winter Soldier, or Sam Wilson.
He said it would be fun, as Loki would have found them intriguing. He also further added that Loki and Dr Strange would also be a great match. Later he admitted that he was also unsure if Loki would ever be able to meet these characters mentioned above since now the character is at the entire center of the multiverse and seated amid the World Tree, especially after the season 2 finale.
In both the comics and movies, Loki is portrayed as a complex character, renowned for his slyness, deception, and fickle alliances. Being a frost giant brought up in Asgard, he frequently feels overshadowed by Thor and orchestrates schemes to seize power, ultimately transforming into one of the major antagonists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Finally, in a retrospective interview, Hiddleston mentioned that he came close to leaving his iconic role twice. He also stated, “I’ve written letters to Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Victoria Alonso expressing my gratitude. It’s been like the opportunity of a lifetime.
Firstly, he was informed that they welcomed him with open arms, allowing him to return whenever he wished since he is now considered a part of their family. Secondly, there’s speculation about Loki’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward, as fans eagerly anticipate his possible comeback in future films such as Avengers: Secret Wars.
