The second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters introduces a powerful new Titan named Titan X, a creature even Godzilla and Kong seem to avoid. After appearing in the first episode while a rescue mission was underway, Titan X is now free and potentially heading towards cities, threatening widespread destruction. However, the show’s heroes are already working on a way to stop it.
In a scene from the third episode of Monarch‘s second season, titled “Secrets,” Hiroshi Randa (Takehiro Hira) reveals a new method for locating the massive sea creature, known as a Titan. He’s refined an older device, using his expertise to create a smaller, more advanced version. He demonstrates this invention to Shaw, Rentaro, and his mother, Keiko (Mari Yamamoto).
According to Dr. Randa, this device is based on Dr. Suzuki’s initial plans, but it’s been significantly improved – it’s smaller and much more powerful. Rentaro points out it was used to revive Godzilla. Keiko is surprised they ever dared to awaken the monster, but then remembers she missed decades of strange events while trapped in Axis Mundi. Lee Shaw is concerned about the time constraints, but the team has overcome even tougher challenges before, though often by the skin of their teeth.
Honestly, I’m really worried about Titanus X. It feels like Monarch might be completely outmatched by this thing. We’ve seen glimpses of its first appearance in 1957, with young Lee Shaw and Keiko, and now it’s back – and everyone knows just how destructive it is. The fact that it effortlessly killed Deputy Director Verdugo back in 2017 with a single tentacle is terrifying. Seriously, it makes Godzilla and Kong seem almost manageable! I’m really hoping Dr. Randa’s research pays off, because if it doesn’t, I fear some poor coastal city is in for a truly catastrophic event.
Season two of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters drops new episodes every Friday on Apple TV+.
