In a chat with Vanity Fair, the esteemed actor admitted that these offers came from major Hollywood studios. Yet, lacking a personal connection, he was compelled to pass on these opportunities.
When the actor from Notting Hill was interviewed by the media outlet, he expressed that he had declined several projects because he believed they lacked quality or creative freedom for the filmmakers. He felt as though a large corporation was pressuring these creators, and he didn’t want to be part of a decision that might put such pressure on them.
He further mentioned, “I posed my questions directly to them. I probed the minds of the directors. It becomes apparent rather quickly, as you may already have some preconceived notions about the role before officially joining—you offer suggestions, and you can sense resistance from non-creative decision makers.
Although the actor has no regrets about turning down other films, he feels differently about “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.” Grant believes this movie was worthwhile. Despite its strong box-office performance, it didn’t surpass the production house’s expectations to the point of launching a franchise based on its success.
Regarding the movie that didn’t connect with viewers, an actor from Four Weddings and a Funeral expressed his thoughts, saying, “Why wasn’t market research conducted before releasing the film?” He continued, “I believe that’s where we went wrong. People simply assumed they wouldn’t want to watch a film about this topic. It seemed no one had considered asking the public their opinion.

On the professional side, the legendary 64-year-old actor is gearing up to step back into the shoes of Daniel Cleaver for the fourth Bridget Jones movie titled Mad About the Boy. At first, there were whispers that he wouldn’t rejoin the franchise, but then, the magic of a captivating script lured him in. In his own words, “This is the best [Bridget Jones book] yet, it’s hilarious and incredibly moving. Trust me, when you watch the movie, you’ll be deeply moved.” Despite my joy knowing he only worked for a week on this project, I can hardly wait to see the final product!
