Born and raised in Washington, musician Benson James Boone recently achieved a significant victory! He was awarded the title of Best Alternative Artist for “Beautiful Things” at the VMAs. His deep-seated love for music was ignited by attending a Jon Bellion concert, which subsequently led him to devote himself more earnestly to singing.

Since the release of his first hit single, “Ghost Town,” back in October 2021, this rising star has traveled quite a distance. This song made it into the charts across 16 different countries. Since then, he’s been putting out numerous successful follow-up singles.

Initially, Boone posted bits of his self-composed tunes on TikTok, which eventually led him to garner 1.7 million followers ahead of his debut single launch. On June 23, it was Boone who took the stage first, while Mette and Griff opened for the shows on June 21 and 22 respectively.

Apart from that hit, I was also the one he first charted in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. Boone launched his second single titled “Room for 2” on February 18, 2022. Before devoting himself fully to his singing career, Boone spent a semester at Brigham Young University-Idaho.

 

Boone was noticed by Dan Reynolds, the lead singer of Imagine Dragons, who then signed him to Night Street Records, a label co-owned with Warner Records. On June 23, Boone performed as the opening act; Mette and Griff opened for the shows on June 21 and 22.

2024’s MTV Video Music Awards took place at New York’s UBS Arena, where a variety of winners were crowned with distinguished awards. Among them was none other than Eminem, also known as “The Rap God,” who triumphed in the categories of best hip-hop and best visual effects.
