As a long-time Marvel fan, I am beyond excited at the prospect of the X-Men finally joining the MCU! The roster from ‘X-Men ’97’ being considered for the reboot is a dream come true. If we’re lucky, we might even see Halle Berry‘s Storm back in action.
In unveiling ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ Kevin Feige hinted at the start of a new chapter for mutants within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). While mutants and the X-Men have had limited references in the cinematic world to date, it’s clear that major plans are underway for some of Marvel Comics’ most recognized figures.
Previously announced, Michael Lesslie has been tasked with penning the screenplay for the forthcoming X-Men live-action remake. This new project aspires to seamlessly merge the X-Men team within the ongoing narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Based on recent whispers from within the industry, it appears that Michael Lesslie has proposed the team lineup of ‘X-Men ’97’ for an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film. This implies a potential revamp could include characters like Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Professor X, Morph, Bishop, Magneto, Nightcrawler, and Sunspot.
Although the specifics about recasting haven’t been announced, there’s much buzz that the mutants could get a new, younger team. Yet, it seems plausible that one character might not change actors: Storm, previously played by Halle Berry. Berry has embodied Storm since 2000, starting with ‘X-Men’, and continuing until ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ in 2014.
Lately, the actress discussed with Josh Wildling the prospect of resurrecting her character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, focusing mainly on ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars.’
Josh: Although you weren’t present in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, there seems to be a possibility that X-Men characters might appear in either ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Secret Wars’. Could there potentially be a Storm gathering for those films?
Berry: You never know! We’ll find out!
It’s accurate to say that Josh Wildling pointed out Berry’s eagerness to return to her character in the most recent Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Yet, although she has shown excitement and discussed the possibility with Blake Lively, as of now, there’s been no contact from Ryan Reynolds regarding this opportunity.
