Domingo stressed that he’s always aimed to portray the Jackson family with sensitivity and respect. The film about Michael Jackson has faced a difficult path to release, undergoing significant reshoots and editing to satisfy studio requirements. The biopic, starring Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in his first major film role, aims to provide a comprehensive look at the King of Pop’s successes and personal life.
Colman Domingo is a highly sought-after actor who’s now expanding into directing. Fresh off roles in films like Sing Sing and The Color Purple, he’s directing and co-writing a new biopic about Nat King Cole, titled Unforgettable. His upcoming film, Michael, tells the story of Michael Jackson and features a talented cast including Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Miles Teller as John Branca, and Kat Graham as Diana Ross. Michael is expected to be a major cultural event when it’s released in theaters worldwide on April 24th.
