Warner Bros. recently announced that Claudia Sarne will be composing the music for the upcoming Supergirl movie. This is a key update from the studio regarding the film’s production.
This marks another change in the music for Supergirl, making Sarne the third composer to work on the film.
Originally, Ramin Djawadi and then Tom Holkenborg were both considered to score the project. However, Warner Bros. has now confirmed that Sarne will be composing the music.
Sarne has composed the scores for films like The Book of Eli, Días de gracia, End of Watch, and Triple 9. She’s also contributed to the music for 26 episodes of the TV series Animal Kingdom.

Warner Bros. quietly confirms another change
The latest details about the movie confirm Milly Alcock will play Kara Zor-El, and suggest it will be a significantly grittier and more focused on revenge than typical Superman films.
Kara embarks on a thrilling, galaxy-spanning quest for revenge and justice when someone she cares about is harmed by a cruel enemy.
The film stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa.
The inclusion of Claudia Sarne in the official credits is noteworthy. Changes to a film’s composer so late in the production process often raise eyebrows, particularly with a movie nearing its release date. This likely indicates that Warner Bros. and DC Studios are making final adjustments to the film’s overall feel before it hits theaters.

Third composer raises questions
Look, getting a third composer on a superhero film is a big deal. Music is so crucial to these movies – it really defines them, especially when you’re building a character like Supergirl who’s meant to be a major player in the future of the DC Universe. It’s not just background noise, it’s part of her identity on screen.
It’s not unusual for a film to change composers once, but when it happens three times, it usually means the movie is still undergoing significant changes, or the studio hasn’t quite found the musical style they’re looking for.
It’s unclear if this is just a small change or a significant one, but viewers will definitely pick up on it.
This news further fuels the existing buzz around Supergirl, a DC project that’s already attracting a lot of attention. This is due to Milly Alcock’s introduction as the character, Jason Momoa joining the cast as Lobo, and the high expectations for the film to successfully launch the new DC universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran, particularly following the recent sale of Warner Bros. Discovery to Paramount Skydance.
Industry insiders are already describing the flick as a red flag and a pricey risk.

Claudia Sarne now officially listed
The press release now also credits Sarne, along with key creative team members including director Craig Gillespie, writer Ana Nogueira, cinematographer Rob Hardy, editor Tatiana S. Riegel, costume designers Anna B. Sheppard and Michael Mooney, visual effects supervisor Geoffrey Baumann, and music supervisor Susan Jacobs.
Warner Bros. is finalizing the on-screen credits as they begin to heavily promote the film.
The latest news suggests the studio is starting to heavily promote Supergirl for its summer release. This aligns with the fact that Supergirl will be celebrated on Superman Day, April 18th, and James Gunn plans to begin filming Man of Tomorrow the day before.
Release date
The movie Supergirl will premiere in theaters and IMAX cinemas across North America on June 26, 2026. It will begin rolling out internationally two days earlier, on June 24, 2026.
