In the caption of the upload, she wrote that she was “back at work,” while expressing her gratitude to fans for their much-appreciated support during her testing time.
She expressed, “The past couple of weeks have been tough, but your affection and encouragement mean the world to me. I’m eagerly looking forward to meeting my fans in China and Brazil.” Closing her note, she added warmly, “I love you!” with three heart emojis in red.
On August 27, Carey informed People about the passing away of her mother, Patricia, and her sister, Alison. She shared with the publication that she had lost both family members over the previous weekend.
Last weekend, I suffered a profound loss when my mother passed away. Heartbreakingly, on the same day, my sister also lost her life in a devastating turn of events,” the Grammy winner shared with the media at the time. She expressed gratitude for being able to spend the last week by her mother’s side before she passed away. “I am grateful for everyone’s love, support, and understanding of my need for privacy during this unbearably difficult time,” she continued.
As stated in the previous article, Alison, Carey’s sister, had a difficult life before passing away in her New York residence. David Baker, a friend and patient advocate who was acquainted with Alison, shared his feelings about her passing to People magazine: “We sensed it might happen, but it still feels like a shock.” He continued, “Her health deteriorated rapidly, and a month after falling ill, she was gone.
For those not familiar, Carey had been estranged from her family for a considerable period before the deaths of Patricia and Alison. In her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, she revealed that her therapist suggested this separation for her mental well-being. Following this advice, Mariah referred to her mother as ‘Pat’ in her book. Her brother Morgan and sister Alison were then referred to as her former brother and former sister, respectively.
In her book, the singer admitted that she needed to give up on the idea of them transforming into the motherly, older sibling figures I had imagined they would someday be.
Moving forward, let’s talk about her professional life. Apart from the previously mentioned concerts, Carey is also planning a Christmas tour, titled Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time. This tour begins in Highland, California on November 6 and concludes in Brooklyn, New York on December 17.

Last year, it held the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for two consecutive weeks during the holiday period.
