How To Start And Complete Alvida’s First Companion Quest In GreedFall 2: The Dying World

Shortly after the game’s introduction in GreedFall: The Dying World, you’ll meet and team up with Alvida. However, events will temporarily separate you, and she won’t rejoin your group until you’ve resolved a pressing issue.

Once she rejoins your team, you’ll unlock her first quest, called “The Heritage of the Sea.” This quest has multiple paths, and it’s easy to overlook, so here’s a guide to completing it and increasing your relationship with Alvida.

How To Start Alvida’s Companion Quest

No matter how Alvida’s trial goes, Silvio the Carpenter will share details about her mother with her. He prefers to discuss it privately, so he suggests they talk later.

Don’t think he wants to meet you at his shop; he’ll be there, but won’t have any useful information. Instead, head to the tavern and find the table where Alvida is sitting.

This scene begins a dialogue between the player, Silvio, and Alvida. Silvio will tell Alvida that because her new ship used to belong to her mother, there’s likely a secret compartment somewhere that holds her mother’s logbook.

Alvida will likely have her mother’s logbook when you get on the ship. After that, she’ll need your help finding someone who can break the code written inside it.

Similar to other companion quests, starting this one means Alvida will be part of your crew until you finish it. You can only work on one of these quests at a time.

Return To Uxantis

The first part of the quest doesn’t require any travel. Alvida needs information about a logbook, and that means talking to an admiral in Uxantis. I only needed to speak with one admiral – the one located towards the bottom of the map – and it turned out he was Alvida’s father, which led to a bit of extra conversation.

He’ll tell you where the library is, so head towards the map marker. Talk to the man at the front desk, and he’ll confirm the writing is coded, but he won’t be able to break it quickly. He suggests finding someone who knew Alvida’s mother, as they might recognize the code she used.

Sail To Olima And Find Alma

The woman you seek is Alma, another sailor who relocated to Olima. Travel to Olima and start looking for her there.

If you haven’t finished the quest “Kuraz’s Plan,” the guards in Olima will be unfriendly towards you. Also, when you first arrive in Olima, someone at the docks might recognize you from wanted posters and attack. If that happens, bring Safia with you – she can talk them down.

One simple way to find out where Alma is: talk to the bartender at the tavern and give him a hangover cure (a purge potion). He’ll share Alma’s location and update your map.

Okay, so the game’s telling me to head to Alma’s place using the map marker. Apparently, there are Bridge Alliance guards hanging around trying to grab her. When I get there, I need to talk to them, but heads up – no matter what I say, a fight’s going to break out! The choices I make will affect how much Alvida likes or dislikes me, though, so I gotta pick carefully.

  • Ask the soldiers for information about the operation: No change in approval.
  • Attack the soldiers: +1 approval with Alvida.
  • Let the soldiers take Alma: -2 approval with Alvida (Alvida will also start the fight with the soldiers anyway, making them hostile towards you as well).

So, during that battle, another nautolan actually showed up to help us out! After it was over, they explained Alvida’s dad sent them as a bodyguard. Alvida was not thrilled, to say the least. Then I got to choose what happened next – I could back the bodyguard, tell them to leave, or let Alvida decide what she wanted. I figured letting her choose was the best move, and it actually gave me a +2 approval boost with her, which was nice!

Escort Alma To Safety

Alma will be disturbed, but ultimately unharmed—though that won’t last forever. Someone needs to personally guide her back to the ship so she can examine the logbook. This means accompanying her the entire distance and being unable to use fast travel.

You can either have Alma hold her position and deal with any guards blocking your path, or gather extra potions if you feel unprepared. Alternatively, you can bring her with you now and either fight alongside her or try to sneak past the guards without a confrontation.

Your teammates should warn you if there are guards ahead on a street. If they don’t, watch for groups of enemies standing together, as that’s a good sign guards are present.

Once you reach the ship at the docks, you’ll find Alma is safe. You can either talk to her about the logbook right away and board the ship, or continue exploring Olima with your companions first.
