Supporters of the TV series “9-1-1: Lone Star” are deeply saddened because the program has been confirmed to conclude after its upcoming fifth season. As reported by Deadline, FOX made this announcement on Thursday, September 5th. The fifth season of this Rob Lowe-led show, which is a spinoff set in Texas (airing on ABC last season following its move from Fox), is slated to debut on September 23rd.
Michael Thorn, President of FOX Television Network, declared that the series’ final season will offer a thrilling farewell, filled with nail-biting rescues, impossible challenges, and deeply relatable personal conflicts, all thanks to our exceptional, top-tier cast, headlined by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres.
Additionally, he voiced his appreciation towards the minds behind the series, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, commending them as outstanding creative forces within the realm of television, and acknowledging their role in crafting an exhilarating drama that’s hard to beat in terms of action.
The final season’s main storyline will revolve around a devastating train accident that poses a threat to many lives, including the 126th squad led by Captains Strand and Tommy Vega (Torres). Over the course of 12 episodes, the fifth season will unfold, culminating in a series finale airing early next year.
Because of labor strikes over the past year, the show had to delay its 2023–24 season, and there was a lot of speculation that this might be the end of its run on Fox. There were whispers that season 5 of the 9-1-1 spinoff could be its last following the departure of regular cast member Sierra McClain.
In August, Variety revealed that the cast of Austin’s 126 firehouse unit, spearheaded by the 60-year-old actor Lowe portraying Owen Strand, generally went into [season 5] with the understanding that it would likely be the final season.
911: Lone Star, which debuted on Fox in January 2020, has been a resounding hit throughout its first four seasons. In the TV viewing year of 2022-2023 alone, it attracted an average of 9.6 million viewers across all broadcast and digital platforms, such as Hulu and Fox.
