Tiffany Had No Idea Her Song Would be in STRANGER THINGS

Music is a key part of what makes Stranger Things so popular. Remember how everyone was talking about Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” after it was featured in a memorable scene in season four? Season five had a similar effect, bringing renewed attention to 1980s singer Tiffany. She was happily surprised to learn that her song, “I Think We’re Alone Now,” was included in the show when the new season aired.

Season five, episode three of the show features a famous song from the 1980s. It plays during a scene where Holly Wheeler, played by Nell Fisher, is dancing inside the Creel House while stuck in Vecna’s mind. The artist, Tiffany, reportedly didn’t know her song was being used until she watched the scene and was delighted to hear it.

She described the song’s enduring popularity as ‘wild and beautiful.’ In a recent interview with Attitude, she shared that she never imagined ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ would have such a lasting impact. Seeing it featured in a show like Stranger Things and resonating with a new audience feels like ‘magic,’ and it’s a reminder that music truly has no expiration date – songs ultimately find the people they’re meant for.

The song “I Think We’re Alone Now” has been used in TV shows before, and it instantly reminded me of the first episode of The Umbrella Academy. The Hargreeves siblings all have their own little dance party in their bedrooms, and that song just makes you want to dance along! It’s a real 80s classic.

Tiffany said she was surprised to see her work featured on the show. ‘I’m a big fan, and my friends all texted me when it aired,’ she explained. ‘Even my son was excited – we both love science fiction!’

During the seasons of Stranger Things focused on Vecna, the kids of Hawkins learn that music can pull people back from his mental control. A song strong enough can break Vecna’s spell. For Max, that song was “Running Up That Hill,” and for Holly, it was “I Think We’re Alone Now.”

The song has become popular again thanks to its use in the show Stranger Things, almost forty years after its original release. It’s also recently been featured in the film Pillion and the third season of Yellowjackets.
