Fans are getting their first glimpse of the new Diagon Alley set for HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter TV series. Photos and videos leaked from a UK newspaper, The Sun, show a detailed look at the impressively redesigned street.
I was absolutely blown away by the new video! It gives you a complete look at Diagon Alley, that incredible wizarding shopping street hidden from the non-magical world. I loved being able to spot all the different magical shops, and seeing Gringotts Bank at the end of the alley, in that lovely little square, was just magical!
The redesigned alleyway is noticeably narrower than it was in the earlier films, creating a more authentic London atmosphere. A new café, called Acciocoffee!, has been added and its bright neon sign suggests the introduction of some completely fresh ideas not found in the books or previous movies.
I’m so excited! The Sun just dropped the first video from the set of the new Harry Potter series, and it features Diagon Alley! We’re getting our first real glimpse of the magical street, and even a better look at Gringotts and some of the new shops they’ve built. It’s already looking incredible!

Let me tell you, this series has been shrouded in secrecy. Most of the filming happened completely under wraps at Warner Bros.’ Leavesden Studios. We caught glimpses of a few scenes shot on location in England, but even those were disguised with code names – they really didn’t want anyone to know what they were up to! Honestly, I’m still baffled as to how this footage even leaked online. It’s a mystery!
The new Harry Potter series is slated to debut in early 2027, starting with eight episodes. Production began last summer, and viewers have already noticed the show will explore storylines beyond what was seen in the original books and films. A key difference will be a deeper look into Draco Malfoy’s family life, and the story will be told from multiple viewpoints, not just Harry’s.
The series will also feature some exciting appearances, including John Lithgow as Dumbledore interacting with Nicolas Flamel, a return by Richard Durden as the ghost Professor Binns for History of Magic, and Johnny Flynn playing Lucius Malfoy in scenes set earlier in his life than previously shown.
Based on early previews, the updated Diagon Alley appears to strike a great balance between what fans already adore and exciting new details. The redesign keeps the magical atmosphere while adding realistic elements that make the area feel more authentic and inhabited.
