Fatman Scoop’s Ex-Wife Shanda Freeman Remembers Him As An ‘Icon And Legend’ Following His Demise At 53

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for personal stories, I find it heartwarming to witness the outpouring of love and respect for Fatman Scoop following his untimely demise. Having delved into the lives of numerous individuals from various walks of life, I can attest that the bonds we share are often stronger than the superficial connections of fame or success.

I, as one of Fatman Scoop’s devoted followers, am expressing my heartfelt condolences to Shanda Freeman upon the passing of this iconic hip-hop figure at the age of 53. On Saturday, August 31st, Shanda took to Instagram to post a collection of pictures of the late musician, whose true name was Isaac Freeman III, shortly following the news of his tragic demise—a day after he collapsed on stage during a concert in Connecticut.

In one post, Shanda wrote a touching tribute to her late ex-husband, describing him as an icon.

“She expressed her heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has shown immense affection towards Isaac @fatmanscoop and herself. He was a renowned figure and an inspiration, and it’s clear that many people admire him. This message was shared on a social media platform, accompanied by a screenshot from their MTV reality show Man and Wife, which, according to IMDb, only had one season in 2008.”

“He was sincerely kind-hearted and always eager to assist others. Isaac, who had truly wonderful parents, learned compassion from them. He will eternally be remembered, valued, and cherished by countless individuals,” she stated. “He positioned me in front of the camera, an act for which I’ll forever be thankful and hold a deep affection for him. Thank you everyone so very much!”, she concluded – Shanda.

Apart from her heartfelt message, Shanda also shared several photos: one of the DJ in action, an old picture of them as friends, and a promotional image from their reality TV days. Accompanying these were the words, “I’m devastated. I love you. Forever.”

The pair divorced after 13 years together, the rapper revealed in 2018, per Today.

On Saturday, August 31, it was officially announced through Fatman Scoop’s Instagram account that he had passed away. His representative later confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the beloved rapper leaves behind his son, daughter, and a brother.

Fatman Scoop gained fame not only for his popular song Be Faithful in 1999, but also for his collaborative works Lose Control with Missy Elliott and It’s Like That with Mariah Carey. For more than two decades, people remembered him as a musician whose “voice and energy” brought joy and made them want to dance, as expressed by Mariah Carey following his sudden passing.
