I’m In Complete Shock’: DWTS’ Cheryl Burke Reacts To Artem Chigvintsev’s Arrest Over Alleged Domestic Violence

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience in the entertainment industry, I’ve had the privilege of watching many stars rise and fall. The recent news about Artem Chigvintsev’s arrest has left me stunned and saddened, not just as an observer, but as someone who knows him personally.

Artem Chigvintsev, a popular dancer on Dancing with the Stars, has been taken into custody in Napa Valley. Hearing about this, his fellow cast member and close friend, Cheryl Burke, has revealed her disbelief.

In the latest episode of Sex, Lies and Spray Tans, Burke shared details about her situation following Chigvintsev’s arrest. She disclosed that they had been living and growing up together under the same roof in a house located within the San Francisco Bay Area, which belonged to her family.

“I find it hard to smile at the moment, given the astounding news I’ve just received,” Burke expressed during our conversation, which we taped on Thursday.

Burke shared her feelings were intensely emotional upon learning about Chigvintsev’s arrest, particularly as accusations of domestic violence have been reported. She clarified, “I won’t confirm he was charged with it, but allegedly, the matter at hand seems to be domestic violence.”

In her podcast, the well-known DWTS alum also mentioned the substantial bail bond of $25,000 paid by Artem Chigvintsev. Later on, she expressed her difficulty in accepting that he has been arrested due to allegations of domestic violence. She wished for everyone connected to this incident to be okay.

“Domestic violence is serious,” Burke asserted, also stating that Chigvintsev’s 4-year-old son Matteo and his wife Nikki Garcia are both ok.

Continuing her explanation about being shocked, Burke emphasized that Artem and domestic violence are not typically associated or compatible.

On August 28, Artem Chigvintsev was taken into custody and accused of causing corporal injury to a domestic partner, which is a felony. Although the identity of the victim has not been revealed, sources indicate that it might be his wife, Garcia – a former wrestler.

According to TMZ’s reports, Chigvintsev made a call to 911 at approximately 8:30 am due to a health emergency. However, he later phoned back and requested that the emergency services did not respond.

On Thursday morning, despite the situation, the police made their way to the reported location, which was his residence in Napa Valley, and paid it a visit.

After their visit, they apprehended Chigvintsev following signs of injuries on an unspecified victim. Over approximately seven competitions, Burke and Chigvintsev have been rivals, but they’ve managed to stay friends even after Burke retired in 2022.
