Harry Styles Interrupts Ryan Gosling’s Alien-Packed ‘SNL’ Monologue

During his opening monologue on Saturday Night Live, Ryan Gosling received an unexpected guest – Harry Styles! Styles, dressed casually, showed up in the front row as Gosling was introducing his new movie, Project Hail Mary.

Gosling looked genuinely surprised. “What are you doing here?” he asked, then added, “I wish I’d known someone was coming!” This sudden arrival immediately changed the direction of the speech.

During a recent interview, Ryan Gosling discussed his new movie, playfully responding to comparisons to science fiction classics. “Some people are saying it’s like ‘E.T.’ meets ‘Interstellar,’ which is wild, considering those are two of the greatest films ever made. It’s like saying it’s twice as good as those!” he joked. However, he seemed distracted by Harry Styles, as the camera frequently showed the singer. Gosling repeatedly asked, “I’m sorry, why are we focusing on Harry Styles?”

The sketch took a funny turn when the “SNL” cast came out dressed as aliens and started singing a mix of Harry Styles’ “Sign of the Times” and Ryan Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken” from the Barbie movie. Kenan Thompson playfully told Gosling, “We just came to get a better look at Harry!” Gosling responded with a warm, “You all came to help me? That’s so nice, Kenan.”

Ryan Gosling hosted Saturday Night Live for the fourth time, after previous appearances in 2015, 2017, and earlier this year. He’s known for some hilarious moments on the show, including a time he couldn’t stop laughing while doing a sketch as Beavis and Butt-Head.

The movie Project Hail Mary, featuring Sandra Huller, will be released in theaters on March 20th. Harry Styles will be on Saturday Night Live next week as both a host and musical performer, and this unexpected appearance in the film is a smart way to give audiences a sneak peek.
