As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for nostalgia and a soft spot for heartwarming stories, I must say that Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia‘s reunion is a delightful reminder of the power of television to bring people together. Their recreation of an iconic moment from This Is Us, a show that has touched millions of hearts, feels like a full-circle moment in their on-screen journey as Rebecca and Jack Pearson.
Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia’s reunion mirrored a memorable scene from This Is Us, where they portrayed beloved characters Rebecca and Jack Pearson. On the show, Jack’s pregnancy with triplets was a significant plot point in one of the seasons. As Moore is pregnant in real life with her husband Taylor Goldsmith, she recreated a scene alongside Ventimiglia, showing off her baby bump as their on-screen couple.
In a heartwarming post on social media, the actress published a before-and-after photo of the duo, labeled “This Is Us” for the present and “That Was Us” for the past. This special reunion took place during Moore’s podcast, That Was Us, which features her former co-stars Sterling K. Brown and Chris Sullivan as co-hosts.
The new podcast, debuted in May, serves as a nostalgic journey for the actors as they revisit the entire series and discuss intriguing facts, along with behind-the-scenes anecdotes. Recently, Moore shared another photo on her social media, which includes some of the original cast members, Ventimiglia, Brown, and Sullivan, from the podcast set. She excitedly announced upcoming recording of a special episode titled “#ThatWasUs” with Milo Ventimiglia.
The three hosts of the podcast have been regularly rewatching and dissecting each episode weekly. They are currently 13 episodes deep into the first season’s 18-episode run—there’s still a ways to go! Alongside their usual discussions, they’ve taken some time for interviews with Dan Fogelman, the series creator, Susan Kelechi Watson who plays Randall’s wife Beth, and Jon Huertas who portrays Miguel, Rebecca’s second husband.
As a devoted fan, it’s been quite some time since we last gathered, but behind the scenes, the cast has had numerous touching moments throughout the years. Most recently, Ventimiglia joined in celebrating the graduation of his on-screen kids, Niles Fitch (young Randall Pearson) and Hannah Zeile (young Kate Pearson), who both graduated from USC.
During the previous summer, it was reported that Ron Cephas Jones, a cherished cast member known for his role as William Hill, sadly passed away. Subsequently, Moore posted a picture featuring herself with Brown, Sullivan, Watson, and Huertas, expressing her feelings by saying, “Before the sorrow, we shared a meal. I will always adore this family. And we all deeply miss you, Ron.”
From 2016 to 2022, the show thrived for an impressive six seasons, garnering 39 Emmy nominations and taking home four awards, among them the accolade of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, which went to Brown.
All seasons of This Is Us are available to stream on Amazon Prime.
