In a forthcoming thriller-erotic film titled “Babygirl,” Nicole Kidman is slated to take the lead role. At a recent press conference for the Venice Film Festival, the actress addressed the mature themes prevalent in the upcoming production, including its explicit sexual content, and shared insights into the filming of the intimate scenes.

At the panel talk, the actress from Big Little Lies explained that the movie will have explicit scenes due to its focus on themes such as sexuality, desire, internal reflections, secrets, marital issues, truth, power, and consent.

During the interview, Kidman shared more insights about her distinct experience working on the project, attributing it largely to collaborating with director Halina Reijn. She expressed that their mutual understanding and shared perspectives on desires and sexuality were incredibly liberating for her as an actress.

The storyline of the movie centers on a female executive who finds herself in a precarious position when she embarks on an affair with a junior colleague at her workplace. This decision strains her familial bonds. The film is expected to receive acclaim from A24 Films and features Antonio Banderas, Sophie Wilde, and Esther McGregor in its cast.

Discussing her collaboration with a female director during the filming of Eyes Wide Shut, the actress expressed that despite working on sensitive scenes, she never felt taken advantage of. She clarified, “I trusted that she wouldn’t exploit me in any way. How others might interpret it is up to them, but I didn’t feel exploited. Instead, I felt like I was an integral part of the process.”

She commented, “We all took great care, being tender with one another and offering assistance. It felt truly genuine, secure, and yet genuinely real.”

Nicole Kidman candidly discussed her apprehension regarding presenting the film at the Venice Film Festival, stating, “To be honest, everyone is feeling a bit jittery right now. I find myself thinking, ‘I just hope my hands aren’t trembling.'”

First, Babygirl is set to make its debut at the Toronto Film Festival before it becomes accessible for viewers. Subsequently, the film will hit the big screens on Christmas Day.
