Madden 25: When is the Week 1, 53-man roster update coming?

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can’t help but feel the anticipation building for the upcoming NFL season and its reflection in Madden 25. The real-life drama unfolds daily, from trades to injuries, but nothing beats the thrill of experiencing it all within the virtual gridiron.

2024-2025 NFL season is just around the corner! Within a few days, the regular season will begin with the Kansas City Chiefs, last year’s Super Bowl winners, welcoming the Baltimore Ravens at their home ground on Thursday, September 7th.

As a football enthusiast like myself, I’ve found that for numerous fellow fans, the thrill of the NFL season has been ignited long before its official start date, courtesy of Madden NFL 25. Yet, some of us might have held off on launching our Franchise, as the in-game rosters don’t perfectly mirror their real-life counterparts.

In the NFL, the team rosters in the current game version aren’t exactly set in stone as the official 53-man rosters haven’t been finalized yet. This is because the teams weren’t required to officially submit their 53-man rosters until Tuesday, August 27th.

When is the first roster update for Madden 25?

In most cases, the initial roster adjustment for Madden 25 is the biggest one throughout the year. This is due to the fact that it includes every player shift that has occurred since the last preseason matchup, right up until the deadline for team rosters.

The deadline for finalizing the teams’ lineups was on August 27th, leaving EA approximately a week to incorporate these modifications into Madden NFL 25. Both roster updates and player adjustments involve numerous changes, totaling in thousands. It’s no small task, but every year, EA manages to pull it off.

As a gamer, I’m eagerly waiting for EA to unveil the Week 1 roster update in Madden 25. Historically, they’ve been consistent in releasing it before the Thursday night kickoff game, so fingers crossed, we’ll get to see it soon!

If it follows the same pattern as previous years, we should see an update for Madden 25’s initial roster around Thursday, August 5th.

In the upcoming update, you’ll notice a multitude of alterations, among which are some significant departures. For instance, the Kansas City Chiefs have let go of their wide receiver Kadarius Toney, and the New England Patriots have released quarterback Bailey Zappe. Furthermore, the Tennessee Titans traded quarterback Malik Willis to the Green Bay Packers. Keep an eye out for these changes and more in the Madden 25 Week 1 Roster Update.

When the Week 1 Roster Update is released, it will be necessary for you to start your franchise over again so that you can view the fresh roster information.
