As a lifestyle expert with a deep-rooted love for both movies and prehistoric creatures, I can confidently say that the Jurassic Park franchise has been a constant source of excitement and nostalgia for me since its inception. From the moment I first saw the original Jurassic Park in 1993, I was instantly captivated by the breathtaking CGI, the thrilling action sequences, and the awe-inspiring dinosaurs that seemed to leap off the screen.
Many people have spent their childhoods captivated by the action-packed Jurassic movies. A large part of our memories of the awe-inspiring, massive, and fierce prehistoric dinosaurs is shaped by the Jurassic Park film series. The enduring appeal of dinosaur films can be largely attributed to these movies, and the franchise continues to thrive, much like the legendary creatures that were supposedly resurrected.
Universal Pictures has revealed that the upcoming Jurassic World film is called Jurassic World: Rebirth. A sneak peek at this new Jurassic World movie was shown on August 29. The main cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. Gareth Edwards, who directed the Godzilla movie, will be directing the fourth installment of the series.
While anticipating your upcoming visit to that less-than-perfect dinosaur theme park, here’s a neatly arranged list of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World films in sequential order for your enjoyment. You can catch up on your favorite dinosaurs on screen before your trip!
Jurassic Park (1993)
Streaming on Peacock/ Prime Video
1993 saw the debut of Jurassic Park, a movie widely regarded as the standout title in its series and one of the highest-grossing films ever produced. At the outset of the film, John Hammond, portrayed by Richard Attenborough and the owner of Jurassic Park, invites a team of experts and scientists to Isla Nublar, an imaginary island where his groundbreaking theme park is situated, for a safety inspection before it opens to the public.
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
Streaming on Peacock/ Prime Video
Four years following the conclusion of the initial film, Hammond no longer managed his company InGen during The Lost World: Jurassic Park, the sequel within the franchise. Remarkably, he kept secret the existence of a second island, Isla Sorna, where dinosaurs were bred.
In a fresh turn of events, Ian Malcolm is rehired by Hammond for another venture to a second island following a previous incident. Accompanied by a new team, they aim to return, but this time, they’re caught in a conflict when they try to secretly transport dinosaurs for their own park, only to collide with the new proprietors of InGen.
Jurassic Park III (2001)
Streaming on Apple TV/ Prime Video
In the Jurassic Park trilogy, Joe Johnston steps in for Steven Spielberg as director during Jurassic Park III. As the story reaches its conclusion, Sam Neill portrays the endearing paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant, who is enticed to Site B by distressed parents. Upon arrival, he finds himself navigating a perilous jungle teeming with aggressive dinosaur creatures; among the most fearsome being the Spinosaurus.
Jurassic World (2015)
Streaming on Apple TV/ Prime Video
1. The initial film in the Jurassic World trilogy and the fourth movie overall within the Jurassic series is called Jurassic World, which was directed by Colin Trevorrow. This story unfolds 22 years after the events depicted in the Jurassic Park trilogy. It centers around Simon Masrani, CEO of Masrani Global Corporation, who bought InGen back in 1997 to construct his own version of a theme park – Jurassic World, an expansion of John Hammond’s original Jurassic Park.
Yet, in this strange future, people are growing tired of the usual dinosaur spectacle. In an attempt to cater to tourists seeking novelty, Masrani scientists concoct the Indominus Rex, a monstrous blend of several fearsome dinosaurs.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
Streaming on Apple TV/ Prime Video
In the fifth installment of the Jurassic Park series, titled “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” directed by J.A. Bayona, Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), a former Masrani executive, and Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), an experienced dinosaur trainer, are tasked with saving various creatures from the ruins of Jurassic World before a dormant volcano on Isla Nublar explodes, causing its complete destruction.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Streaming on Apple TV/ Prime Video
In “Jurassic World: Dominion,” the sixth film of the series, unfolds four years following the events depicted in “Fallen Kingdom.” Now, dinosaurs roam freely among us, sharing the planet with humanity. The concluding chapter of the Jurassic World saga brings back Drs. Ellie Sattler, Alan Grant, and Ian Malcolm – the original trio – to team up once more with Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), in an attempt to preserve human society, as they all face new challenges together.
