Director Tim Burton ‘Doubts’ Possibility Of Beetlejuice 3 As Second Installment Releases After 36 Years: ‘I’ll Be About 100’

As a lifelong fan of Tim Burton’s unique and quirky style, I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Having grown up with the original 1988 film, it holds a special place in my heart for its perfect blend of humor and terror. It was such a delight to see the ensemble cast and crew at the London premiere, especially Tim Burton himself, who seemed as passionate about the project as ever.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the highly anticipated Tim Burton film, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” set for release in 2024. This long-awaited sequel has been in the works for a whopping 36 years, with Burton himself hinting that a third installment might take yet another few decades to materialize.

Enthusiasts can’t wait to explore the mystical world of Winter River once more in the upcoming sequel. Interestingly, the film premiered at the 81st Venice Film Festival prior to its theater release for the general public.

At the London debut of the film, Burton was questioned by The Hollywood Reporter regarding a potential third Beetlejuice movie. In response, the director mused, “Given the current pace, I’d be around 100 years old. So, possibly, but it seems unlikely.”

On Thursday evening, the principal cast and team behind Beetlejuice, including recurring actors Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara, attended the U.K. premiere held at London’s Leicester Square.

It appears Burton isn’t keen on a directorial position, despite the possibility of a quick production for Beetlejuice 3. When asked about his return for Beetlejuice 2, the director mentioned that he found joy in exploring Ryder’s Lydia Deetz character further, rather than assuming a directing role.

The director shared with the media: “As you grow older, you tend to look back on the experiences of your life. Initially, you were a tranquil teenager. Relationships – whether as a parent or otherwise – what are your thoughts on them? What aspects attract you? How have you adjusted over time? I can speak from personal experience about all these matters. It seems more fitting to express this perspective now rather than, for example, in 1989.”

In 1988, Beetlejuice was first introduced, winning over audiences with its unique blend of eerie comedy and humor that sent shivers down spines. The main character, played by Michael Keaton as Betelgeuse, is a bio-exorcist who is summoned by the ghostly couple Maitland after their deaths, with the aim of scaring off any intruders to their home.

Upcoming movie “Beetlejuice” will bring together the original stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara, along with fresh faces such as Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, Justin Theroux, and Willem Dafoe.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will release in theaters on September 6.
