Although Estrid is not a familiar name from the lore of “The Lord of the Rings,” it’s plausible that this character in “The Rings of Power” could be a significant figure instrumental in the future salvation of Middle-earth.

Who Is Estrid on The Rings of Power?

Could Estrid Actually Be a Character From The Lord of The Rings‘ Lore?

While Estrid might be a new character in “The Rings of Power”, she’s not typically linked with “The Lord of the Rings”. On the other hand, Aragorn is deeply connected to it. Interestingly, Aragorn can trace his lineage back to Isildur, who possessed the legendary sword Narsil, later known as Andúril in “The Lord of the Rings”, a weapon initially used by Isildur to sever Sauron’s hand and Ring. Aragorn is a direct descendant of Isildur through his fourth son, Valandil – a name that gains more significance for us following “The Rings of Power”. Moreover, Tolkien mentions that Isildur was married, which sets the stage for Estrid, a character from “The Rings of Power”, to have an influential role.

However, this could just be a red herring; nevertheless, it appears that The Rings of Power is laying the groundwork for Estrid to potentially become Isildur’s enigmatic partner.

If Isildur and Estrid were to fall in love, it would provide a fantastic chance to delve deeper into an influential Tolkien character who has not been extensively explored yet. Given that his wife will stand by him during numerous trials and tribulations in the Second Age of Middle-earth, Isildur’s spouse must have played a significant role in helping Isildur flee the fall of Númenor, establish Gondor, and unite the armies of men and elves against Sauron. Furthermore, if Estrid were to become Isildur’s wife on The Rings of Power, she would create a lineage that would eventually bring about the golden age of Man across all of Middle-earth.
