After a long time, Scooter Braun decided to watch the Max documentary titled “Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood” and posted it on social media. With the heated dispute between him and Taylor Swift, the Midnights artist, over his purchase of her masters fresh in his mind, he seemed to acknowledge the gravity of the situation. To add some humor to the mix, the former music producer shared a post from TMZ about Swift’s recent party, remarking, “I wasn’t invited to this?!” and attached “#laughalittle” at the bottom.
It’s been said that Taylor Swift, the singer known for “The Cruel Summer,” hosted a party in celebration of Blake Lively’s birthday. Attendees at this event were reportedly big names such as Travis and Jason Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, and others.
The well-known dispute started in 2019 when Swift posted a strong statement on Tumblr accusing the executive of taking away her life’s work without letting her purchase it first. Specifically, she was referring to Barun acquiring her catalog from her self-titled debut album in 2006 up to her 2017 Reputation album. She wrote that she had to make a painful decision to let go of her past, describing the situation as the most unfavorable outcome possible.
Instead, Barun conveyed a distinct narrative to Variety, stating that he asked the pop star to meet him multiple times but she declined each time. Later, he expressed regret over the deal and was displeased with her response. He further mentioned that everything that transpired was perplexing and not grounded in factual events.
Taylor Swift, who is known for her hit song Shake It Off, eventually confessed to Vogue that she had the chance to purchase her own albums back, but she declined. In the end, the CEO of Hybe decided to sell them for over $300 million. When asked about her decision, she explained, “I had to choose between investing in my past or our collective future, and I opted for the future.”
After some time, she eventually disclosed that she intended to rerecord the albums she no longer owned. To date, she’s made public four rerecorded versions—Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version).
Under a fresh agreement with Universal Music Group, Taylor Swift assumed full ownership of upcoming studio albums, including Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, and The Tortured Poets Department, by serving as their producer.
