The first trailer for the DCU series Lanterns has excited fans, and now director Zack Snyder has contributed to the buzz.
Zack Snyder recently acknowledged on Instagram that a scene from his cut of Justice League was filmed with limited resources – practically in his driveway. This came as some online viewers criticized the color scheme of the new Lanterns trailer, calling its muted, brown tones unappealing.
The popular online post highlights the difference between Zack Snyder’s portrayal of the character—which is bright green and closely resembles the comic books—and the darker, more subdued appearance in the preview footage from Lanterns.
Okay, so everyone immediately jumped on this – Zack Snyder liked a post about the whole thing, and people are reading it as him quietly giving his two cents on the discussion. It’s like a little signal from him, you know? As a movie fan, I get why everyone’s paying attention – it’s always interesting to see what directors think about fan theories and debates!

Snyder has liked similar posts before
Look, as a big DC fan, I’ve noticed something interesting. It’s not the first time Zack Snyder has seemed to ‘like’ or approve of posts online that basically question where DC movies are headed right now. It’s definitely a pattern, and it makes you wonder what he’s thinking.
People noticed that Snyder has shown support for Ben Affleck’s performance as Batman by liking related posts online. He’s also indicated his approval of the campaign to continue the films he originally envisioned.
For instance, Snyder showed his approval of a post that complimented Hans Zimmer’s score for Man of Steel, suggesting it was better than the music in James Gunn’s new Superman movie. The post also highlighted that Zimmer’s score included parts inspired by the iconic John Williams theme from the Christopher Reeve Superman films.
Whenever Snyder responds to these posts, fans immediately share screenshots, seeing them as secret messages of support.

The Green Lantern that almost appeared in Justice League
Zack Snyder initially intended to feature John Stewart in the closing scene of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. However, he had to change his plans and instead used Martian Manhunter.
The scene, filmed at his home, would have shown Green Lantern asking Batman to join the fight against Darkseid.
Some fans believe Zack Snyder’s homemade footage of Green Lantern looks better than the recent Lanterns series on HBO Max. Snyder seems to agree, as he ‘liked’ an Instagram post making that comparison.

Zack Snyder says Warner Bros. made him cut Green Lantern from his film because they had different ideas for the character’s future.
The initial plans involved a big-budget, epic space opera series based on Green Lantern for HBO Max. Development progressed to the point where Finn Wittrock was cast as the character Guy Gardner.
After David Zaslav became CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, the project was canceled as part of a larger overhaul of DC’s future. Zaslav ended previous plans led by Mike De Luca to revive the existing DC Extended Universe (DCEU), and instead chose James Gunn and Peter Safran to completely restart the franchise with a new DC Universe, focusing on more cost-effective casting.

SnyderVerse rumors return amid WBD sale
Now the situation around DC could change again.
Reports indicate that Paramount is in talks to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, and sources say this could lead to a revival of Zack Snyder’s DC universe, with Snyder himself reportedly very enthusiastic about the possibility.
