‘Want To Make It Clear..’: TikTok Star Alix Earle Breaks Silence On Using Racial Slur In The Resurfaced Post From 2014

As someone who has spent countless hours scrolling through the endless stream of content on social media platforms, I have come across many personalities, some fleeting and others that leave a lasting impression. Alix Earle, also known as TikTok’s It girl, is one such personality who has managed to carve out a niche for herself in the vast digital landscape.

18-year-old TikTok sensation Alix Earle issued an apology following the resurfacing of an old post on ask.fm, dating back to when she was 13, that contained a racial slur. In an Instagram Story statement, the influencer, now 23, admitted, “A few weeks ago, content from my past ask.fm account emerged, showing me using a derogatory term in the summer of 2014.”

Earle openly acknowledged her error and accepted full responsibility. She clarified, “I’m assuming accountability, and I want to make it plain that I was 13 years old when I used that word, unaware of its deeply offensive connotations. However, this lack of understanding does not justify using such a term in any context or at any age. This is definitely not the language I use or the values I uphold.”

Recently, comments from two years past that were initially posted under the username Alixxxxxx resurfaced online in a Reddit discussion. These posts contained derogatory language, as Alixxxxxx employed a slur when interacting with others on the platform. Users could ask questions either publicly or anonymously on this site.

Earle faced criticism for not addressing her past remarks sooner. In her statement, she expressed regret for how she handled the situation, explaining that she was advised not to speak out earlier, which she now sees was a mistake.

She admitted. “there is no one to blame but myself for not standing my ground and going with my gut to speak out right away,” Earle further added, “In the absence of my addressing this, my silence allowed others to fill the void with rumors that simply aren’t true.”

In response to particular accusations brought forth by podcasters Jessie Smiles and Lily Marston, Earle dismissed their assertion that she attempted to halt the distribution of certain posts as “absurd” and “unfounded.” Additionally, she refuted speculation that businesses had severed ties with her due to the commotion.

She added at the last, “Regardless of what’s being said online, I wanted to come on here to address the facts and most importantly apologize.”

Alix Ashley Earle gained fame as a social media sensation on the platform TikTok. Her rise to stardom occurred in 2020 when she started sharing ‘Get Ready with Me’ videos on TikTok while pursuing her studies at the University of Miami. Now, she boasts over six million followers and is widely known as TikTok’s It girl and friendly beauty icon.
