US Veteran Predicts XRP Will Overtake Bitcoin-But When? We Can’t Tell Either

So here we have it: a retired US Army combat medic, Patrick L. Riley, has made a bold, sweeping prediction that XRP will soon overtake Bitcoin as the world’s top cryptocurrency. It’s not the first time he’s sung this song, and it certainly won’t be the last. The catch? He hasn’t exactly backed up his claims with, well, anything. Just his gut and a bit of social media flair. But let’s indulge him, shall we? XRP needs to climb from $1.41 to nearly $24 for that miracle to happen.

A Long Road To The Top

Riley, now moonlighting as a market commentator on the ever-buzzing platform X, posted this latest forecast without so much as a hint of data or an actual timeline. But let’s be fair: Who needs those when you’ve got sheer conviction on your side? This isn’t the first time Riley has made such a prophecy. Just last month, he was singing the same tune: XRP would top Bitcoin in six years, with or without Bitcoin hitting that coveted $150,000 mark this year. And if Bitcoin doesn’t get its act together, Riley warns, it could crash down to a measly $1,000.

Currently, XRP holds fourth place in the cryptocurrency market, with a market value of just shy of $87 billion. Bitcoin, meanwhile, sits comfortably in first place at a jaw-dropping $1.45 trillion. Ethereum’s in second place at $254 billion, and BNB is holding strong in third at $89.3 billion, just ahead of XRP. So, yeah, we’ve got a bit of a mountain to climb.

I’m going to make two very not bold predictions.

1: This will not be a 4-5 week long war.

2: XRP will pass Bitcoin.

Now, before XRP can even think about challenging Bitcoin, it’s got to deal with BNB, which it’s trailing by about 3.5%. And don’t forget Ethereum-XRP needs a 190% surge just to topple that beast, pushing the price to $4.15. Once that’s out of the way, it’s a straight shot to Bitcoin… or is it? To reach Bitcoin’s $23.70, XRP’s going to have to get its act together. Fast.

In fact, the last time XRP overtook Ethereum was in December 2019. Since then, it’s had an ongoing back-and-forth with BNB, jockeying for position like a bunch of crypto teenagers in a race for prom king.

Other Voices, Similar Claims

Of course, Riley isn’t the only one predicting the ascension of XRP. Back in August 2025, another financial commentator, Coach JV, confidently stated that XRP would claim the number one spot by 2030, pushing Bitcoin to a humble second place. Talk about setting the stage for a dramatic shift.

And just a few months before, in March 2025, Jacob King, the CEO of SwanDesk, jumped on the bandwagon, claiming that the US government’s decision to add XRP to its national crypto stockpile was the writing on the wall. XRP’s market cap, he confidently declared, would soon surpass Bitcoin’s. No exact timeline, though. How nice of him.

Riley Also Weighs In On The Israel-Iran War

But wait, Riley doesn’t just talk crypto. In his post, he also ventured into the realm of international conflict, specifically the military clash between Israel and Iran that kicked off on February 28. The US and Israel launched synchronized strikes against Iranian leadership, nuclear sites, and proxy forces. Iran didn’t take kindly to this, retaliating with over 200 missiles and drones targeting Israeli and US military positions.

At the start of the operation, US President Donald Trump predicted the war would last around four to five weeks. But Riley, in his infinite wisdom, disagreed. Why? Well, he didn’t exactly elaborate, but let’s just say he’s not buying into that “four-to-five weeks” timeline. We’ll see, won’t we?
