Filming for James Gunn’s Superman sequel, titled Man of Tomorrow, is expected to start on April 17th in Atlanta.
I’m hearing from Page Six that they’re finally getting ready to start filming the next DCU movie after last year’s Superman! It sounds like things are set to kick off next month, which is really exciting.
Following the debut of the DCU with James Gunn’s Superman movie, Man of Tomorrow will continue the story of David Corenswet as the Man of Steel.
Supergirl Takes Over Superman Day
The reported filming start also lines up closely with an upcoming DC promotion.
April 18th is celebrated as Superman Day, but in 2026, the focus will change to his cousin, Supergirl. As announced earlier, a “Summer of Supergirl” event will include her taking over the annual celebration.
This suggests that filming for Man of Tomorrow might start the day before the DC Universe focuses on Supergirl.
Superman And Lex Face Brainiac
While plot details remain under wraps, Gunn has previously teased the direction for the sequel.
The director has revealed that Superman and Lex Luthor will team up to fight a major new enemy: Brainiac, a famously powerful and dangerous villain from the Superman comics.
James Gunn has hinted that the upcoming film will focus equally on Lex Luthor and Superman, making their conflict a key part of the story.

The sequel is expected to bring back several key members of the cast introduced in Superman.
David Corenswet is back as Superman (Clark Kent), with Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Several other characters from the first DC Universe film are also anticipated to return. These include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., along with Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.
Lars Eidinger is playing Brainiac.
Man of Tomorrow is currently scheduled to be released July 9, 2027.
