Hulu has just released the first look at The Testaments, the sequel to the popular show The Handmaid’s Tale. The new series picks up the story in the world of Gilead, following the lives of young women growing up under its strict rule. The trailer highlights the dangers faced by teens like Agnes, who was separated from her mother, June Osborne, and raised within Gilead.
Chase Infiniti stars as Agnes, who is being prepared to become a wife in the Republic of Gilead. As a “Plum,” Agnes holds a specific rank that defines her position and future within Gilead’s society. In a preview of the upcoming season, she shares a thought-provoking observation: “It’s easier to accept a story than believe that the people around you are monsters.” The trailer also shows glimpses of Gilead’s brutal environment, highlighting its harsh punishments and the strict control exerted by the Wives.
Even though the trailer is dark, it also shows people fighting back and finding hope. Agnes, along with others known as the Plums, realizes their potential and decides it’s time to make a difference, saying, “We had no idea what we were capable of. It was time for us to change things.”
Say goodbye to the world of the dollhouse! Check out the trailer for The Testaments, a brand new story taking place in the universe of The Handmaid’s Tale. It begins streaming April 8th on Hulu and Hulu as part of Disney+ bundles.

This new series is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel, The Testaments, and is made by the same creators as The Handmaid’s Tale. Bruce Miller is again leading the show, with Warren Littlefield and Elisabeth Moss serving as executive producers. Ann Dowd returns as the formidable Aunt Lydia, helping new characters navigate the harsh world of Gilead. The cast also features Lucy Halliday, Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Rowan Blanchard, and Zarrin Darnell-Martin.
The new series is set four years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale and will focus on the experiences of young women who grew up entirely within the confines of Gilead. According to showrunner Warren Littlefield, these young women haven’t known any other life, and the world isn’t entirely bleak. Their education takes place at a school run by Aunt Lydia, with Ann Dowd reprising her role and serving as a key link between the original series and this new story.
The series centers on Agnes and Daisy, who form a close bond while attending Aunt Lydia’s exclusive school for prospective wives. Their friendship has the potential to dramatically change everything about their lives – their past, present, and future.
The new series, The Testaments, begins streaming on Hulu April 8th with the first three episodes available immediately. After that, new episodes will be released each week. You can also watch it on Hulu if you have a Disney+ bundle.
