Nacon and Spiders have just released a new story trailer for their upcoming RPG, GreedFall: The Dying World. The trailer gives players a feel for the game’s atmosphere and sets the stage for a story full of both action-packed combat and mysterious intrigue. You can watch it below.
The trailer gives us a glimpse into the protagonist’s life on the island of Teer Fradee, which is destroyed by invading forces. As a result, the hero is forcibly taken from their home to the continent of Gacane.
In GreedFall: The Dying Light, the player’s main goal – to earn freedom and return home – quickly becomes more complicated as different groups become involved. A web of conspiracies begins to unravel, leading to violent conflicts between these groups. To make matters worse, the island of Gacane is suffering from a deadly, mysterious disease called the Malichor.
Players will experience key events in Gacane’s history throughout the game. While combat is frequent, you can also overcome challenges using diplomacy or strategy.
Wilfried Mallet, the technical director, recently announced that the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of GreedFall: The Dying Light will offer players a choice between two modes: “Performance” and “Quality.” Performance mode will prioritize smooth gameplay with a consistent 60 frames per second, while Quality mode will limit the frame rate to 30 FPS to deliver better graphics. The developers also made sure to carefully optimize the game for the Xbox Series S.
Optimizing a game for different platforms is always challenging, and the Xbox Series S required particular focus, according to Mallet. Fortunately, the team had already learned a lot about the console while developing Steelrising, which helped them make the necessary changes to deliver a great experience for players.
When questioned about a possible release on the next Nintendo Switch, Mallet explained that while it’s possible, Spiders is currently focused on finalizing the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GreedFall: The Dying Light.
A new trailer came out last week, and instead of highlighting the game’s battles across the land of Gacane, it focused on its stunning visuals. The trailer featured diverse environments like Teer Fradee, Thynea, Uxantis, Olima, and Peren. Although action was limited, it did suggest a compelling story with characters engaging in secret meetings and suspicious agreements.
