John Christian Love, best known as Ernesto on Better Call Saul, has quit his job as an Amazon delivery driver to pursue other career opportunities. He recently shared details about how difficult the job was in a Reddit post that quickly became popular, and he spoke with Page Six about his decision.
The 35-year-old actor recently left his job as a delivery driver, saying it was seriously impacting his health. He explained that the physically demanding rural routes were taking a toll on his body, especially given his existing scoliosis and Scheuermann’s disease, making the work increasingly difficult.
Even though he’s changed careers, Love is still passionate about acting and continues to pursue roles in TV and movies. He explained that while he’s appeared in 11 episodes of a well-received drama series, acting alone hasn’t been enough to support him financially, so he continues to work a regular job alongside his acting pursuits.
Love, a film student from New Mexico, sees his delivery job as just one part of his journey to succeed. He tackles every job – whether it’s acting or delivering packages – with the same dedication, always giving his absolute best to provide for his family.
The actor is committed to maintaining his integrity and professional distance, staying friendly with past coworkers like Rhea Seehorn without asking them for help in his career. He wants to be recognized solely for his skills and is working towards landing a starring role in a movie or a consistent part on a TV show.
The actor has recently auditioned for roles in the series Southern Bastards and a spin-off of the show Snowfall. He’s hopeful his story, which recently went viral, will open doors for him like it did for Geoffrey Owens, known for his role in The Cosby Show. Owens received new acting opportunities after a photo of him working at a grocery store gained attention.
Many artists face the challenge of making their passion work with the need to earn a living. Love encourages those in similar situations to continue pursuing their dreams and avoid getting stuck in a typical, unfulfilling job while doing so.
John Christian Love has been a working actor for over twenty years. While many know him from the world of Breaking Bad, he’s also appeared in popular shows like Friday Night Lights and In Plain Sight. He’s also been in several films, including Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, starring Tina Fey, and the big-budget sequel Independence Day: Resurgence.
The actor recently shared that the independent film Lone Wolf, starring Bryan Cranston and Lily Gladstone, ran into money problems and production was stopped. This unfortunately means that many people who worked on the film, including the actor, haven’t been paid for their work.
Bryan Cranston has voiced his support for his co-stars and won’t promote their movie until everyone working on it receives fair pay. The disagreement is now being handled through arbitration with the actors’ union, SAG-AFTRA, and it shows how difficult it can be to fund independent films, even with well-known actors involved.
While waiting for more acting opportunities, Love has been sharing his experiences as an actor and living with ADHD on his YouTube channel. He’s focused on preparing for his next role, believing it’s a matter of when, not if, it will happen.
His honesty about the challenges of a Hollywood career and his determination to achieve his dreams have connected with thousands of fans.
