Todd Meadows, 25, a crew member on the Discovery Channel show “Deadliest Catch,” has died while fishing in the Bering Sea. The captain of the Aleutian Lady, Rick Shelford, announced the sad news on social media, describing Meadows’ death as a devastating loss.
February 25th, 2026… it’s a day I’ll never forget, the worst in the history of the Aleutian Lady. We lost Todd Meadows, and it feels like losing a brother. He hadn’t been with us long, but he instantly became part of our family. Everyone respected him – he loved fishing, and he worked harder than anyone. I’ll always remember his amazing smile and hearing his laugh echo through the wheelhouse or across the deck. We’re all going to miss him terribly.
I was really touched by what Shelford had to say about Todd Meadows. He spoke so beautifully about how much Todd loved his kids and family – it was clear that family meant everything to him. Shelford said Todd put his heart into everything he did, worked incredibly hard, and just brought happiness to everyone around him. Honestly, it’s just heartbreaking, and Shelford was right – there aren’t really words to describe how sad we all are.
Please keep Todd’s children and family in your prayers and thoughts as they grieve his loss. He was a cherished member of our team and will always be remembered as part of our family. Although he’s gone too soon, his spirit will live on through his children and in all of our memories of him.

The network behind “Deadliest Catch,” Warner Bros. Discovery, has confirmed the death of Todd Meadows. In a statement, they expressed their deep sadness, calling his passing a devastating loss and offering condolences to his family, fellow crew members, and the entire fishing community.
“Deadliest Catch,” a show that premiered in 2005, features the lives of crab fishermen braving the harsh Alaskan waters. It captures the challenges they face during crab season, including huge waves and strong winds in the Bering Sea.
After the passing of Mark Meadows, a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe was started to help care for his three sons, and it has already collected more than $46,000.
This tragedy highlights the dangers fishermen encounter daily to provide us with seafood, and the strong connections they forge while working in such challenging environments.
