He explained that many people expected a strong, public reaction from him, but he felt unable to respond in that way despite being deeply affected. Harry Styles recently explained to Zane Lowe why he hadn’t publicly addressed Liam Payne’s death. He said it’s been difficult even thinking about talking about it, and that he found it unsettling how others seemed to share in his grief, almost like they had a claim to it.
The other former bandmates have spoken about the sad event, but Harry Styles has kept to himself, preferring to mourn privately. He felt pressure from fans, explaining, “I’m deeply affected by my friend’s passing, and it’s hard when people expect you to express that publicly. It feels like if you don’t, you’re not allowing yourself to truly feel your grief.”
He finished by saying it’s incredibly hard to lose a friend, especially one you deeply connect with and see a lot of yourself in. He described it as losing someone with a genuinely good heart who aspired to do great things.
