It’s been noted that a remake of the initial film, “The Crow,” has been recently released, but it seems that many aren’t pleased about this update, including the original actress who was part of it. This dissatisfaction primarily stems from the unfortunate events that occurred during the making of the original movie.
As reported by TMZ, The Crow premiered in cinemas on a Friday, August 23rd. Like many others, it appears that the original actress, Sofia Shinas, who worked alongside Brandon Lee in the movie, is less than thrilled about the remake.
It seems that the primary cause stems from the unfortunate incident involving Brandon Lee, who met his end during the filming of the 1994 movie when he was fatally shot on set. This startling news sent shockwaves through people due to the tragic demise of the film’s main character.
Over several years, fans have repeatedly expressed their reasons against the remake of the film, arguing that it could damage the esteemed legacy and respect due to the iconic actor, Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee).
For those unfamiliar, Shinas acted alongside Brandon in a romantic role. She spoke candidly with the press about her perspective on why the film could potentially fail based on the critic’s reviews.
She expressed to the media outlet, “Many adore Brandon from the initial movie… It’s challenging to comprehend how his family and fiancée might feel, knowing their beloved one sacrificed himself for the film. However, it seems another actor is attempting to overshadow that role once more.”
She made it clear that she was not talking against the reboot’s actors including Bill Skarsgard and FKA Twigs stating that she did not like that the original film had to be messed with.
Besides Shinas, Rochelle Davis – another actor from the original film – has shared her thoughts against the upcoming remake through a previous platform.
In the ’90s, you might not be aware, but there were direct-to-VHS sequels of the movie produced. However, a direct remake of the original film didn’t appear in theaters until recently. The latest film boasts an impressive cast including Danny Huston, Isabella Wei, Laura Birn, Jordan Bolger, Dukagjin Podrimaj, Sami Bouajila, David Bowels, Jim High, and numerous others.
Assuming the leadership role for the latest adaptation of ‘The Crow’ wasn’t undoubtedly an arduous task. However, whether viewers appreciate or criticize the movie rests entirely on their personal opinions.
