She spoke candidly about her experience working on Tim Burton’s upcoming Beetlejuice sequel, and I was particularly intrigued by her recollection of watching the original film as a youngster. It seems she stumbled upon this masterpiece around the age of 8 or 9, and it left an indelible mark on her young heart. She confessed that she was quite the scaredy-cat back then, but Beetlejuice managed to haunt her dreams in a recurring nightmare!

On Wednesdays, actress Ortega went on to describe that her dreams revolved around a person donning a Michael Keaton outfit rather than the character itself. She recalled seeing a frightening Halloween costume before she was familiar with the Beetlejuice film, mentioning that the decayed and smeared, bleeding green and black makeup from Party City made her shudder.

In a subsequent statement, the actress mentioned that she recognized the image as being identical to the frightening figure from the movie, only recognizing this upon rewatching it later. Additionally, Ortega talked about her recurring nightmares involving the character and shared that she had always slept on the lower bunk of a bunk bed throughout her childhood, since she lived in a single room.

In a playful retelling, the actress mentioned that she had a dream where Beetlejuice descended, performing a swirling dance around the banister towards her bed, donned in a Superman cape. He then extended an offer of grape juice and cheerily asked, “Got any grapes?”

When asked if she had told this story to her Beetlejuice co-star Keaton during filming, the actress from Scream explained, “I didn’t, no. Perhaps I should have, but I think there might have been a part of me that was still somewhat apprehensive.”

She mentioned that she may have been reluctant to discuss it since encountering someone significant from her past felt overwhelming and reminded her of her teenage years, causing her to behave in a manner similar to her younger self. The actress put it another way by saying, “Perhaps I unconsciously regressed into my old adolescent behavior around him.”
