Dogecoin, that little digital dog, was up 13.20% today. It happens. These things always happen. Like rain, or taxes, or people believing in things they shouldn’t. Bitcoin was also doing okay, up 7.2%. Ethereum, 8.6%. A green day for the digital casinos. So it goes.
The reason? Apparently, a newspaper reported that someone, somewhere, might be talking about stopping a war. Iran, Israel, the U.S. – all very important people, doing very important things, mostly involving other people’s suffering. A pause in the fighting means oil might stay…less expensive. And that, somehow, makes people feel better about digital dog money. It’s a strange world.
Still, don’t get too excited. Dogecoin is still down 13% for the year, and 86% from its peak. Peaks are fleeting. Everything goes down eventually. It’s the nature of things. It reminds me of the tulip bulbs. Remember those? A brief moment of madness, then…well, then just bulbs.
Is Dogecoin a Buy?
If peace breaks out, Dogecoin might get a little boost. A little. But the Federal Reserve is still out there, and they’re very fond of interest rates. High rates make everything less fun, especially borrowing money to buy digital dogs. So, a quick end to the war would be…convenient.
But I suspect, and history will bear me out on this, that people will eventually get tired of all the speculation. They’ll go back to things that…exist. Things you can hold. Things that don’t disappear when your computer crashes. It’s a pattern. A very old pattern. We humans are creatures of habit, even when we pretend we aren’t.
So, if you’re thinking of buying Dogecoin right now? I’d say…hold off. Just for a little while. There are other things to do with your money. Things that might actually matter. So it goes.
