Plus-Sized Elf Live-Action Trailer Drops; Everything to Know

As a dedicated follower of the anime and manga world who has been fortunate enough to witness the rise of some truly unique and captivating stories, I must say that Plus-Sized Elf is undoubtedly one of my favorites. The tale of Elfuda, the overweight elf, and her struggles in the human world resonates deeply with me, as I too have had my fair share of battles against the temptations of fast food and unhealthy indulgences.

The character “Plus-Sized Elf” is inspired by the Japanese manga series titled “Erufu-san wa Yaserarenai,” created by Synecdoche. While a live-action series or movie hasn’t been officially announced, a commercial featuring live action has been released. In this commercial, an actress portrays Elfuda and is seen running on a treadmill.

As a die-hard fan, I’m utterly captivated by this series that centers around me, Tomoatsu Naoe, an osteopathic masseur. One fateful day, I find myself face-to-face with a unique client, Efluda – not your ordinary human, but an elf stranded on Earth due to her expanded dimensions! You see, she’s amassed a bit too much weight in our world, making it impossible for her to squeeze through the portal back to her universe. Her insatiable cravings for fast food, particularly french fries, have led her to this predicament. Now, I’m her unlikely ally, helping her embark on a journey to shed those extra pounds and find a way back home.

The video currently trending on X (previously Twitter) appears to originate from a TV advertisement for the song titled “Fried Pride” on King Records. At this point, we don’t have information about where or when this commercial was produced. As previously stated, there hasn’t been any official word yet about whether a live-action production of the project will occur.

Starting in 2016, the manga started being released online on Comic Gum, thanks to Wani Books. From June 26, 2017, to November 18, 2021, a total of eight volumes were made available, with Wani Books handling volumes 1-7 and Akita Shoten releasing the eighth. Seven Sea Entertainment is responsible for publishing the series in English.

The animated TV show is being manufactured by Studio Elias, with Toshikatsu Tokoro serving as its director. Yuki Takabayashi handles the scriptwriting duties, while Katsuyuki Sato designs the characters. In a recent episode, Elfuda indulged in fries to mark her weight loss success, unaware that she had just become the 10,000th customer at the restaurant and won a year’s worth of free french fries as a reward.

Amidst an abundance of romance and war-themed anime releases, Synecdoche’s Plus-Sized Elf stands out as a refreshing change. Although no concrete details about future projects have been announced, given the series’ widespread appeal, it won’t be long before we witness Elfuda in a brand new form. Keep an eye out for updates on the return of Plus-Sized Elf!
