Jane Lynch Opens Up About Working With Her Co-Star Steve Martin On Only Murders In The Building: ‘The Great Thing About…’

As a dedicated fan of Only Murders in the Building, I must say that Jane Lynch’s insights into her role as Sazz Pataki have added a whole new layer of excitement for the upcoming season. Her unique perspective, gained from observing and mirroring Steve Martin‘s actions, brings an element of intrigue to the character that keeps us guessing.

As a devoted fan and follower, I’m excited to share insights from Jane Lynch’s recent revelations about her journey in the captivating mystery comedy-drama series, Only Murders in the Building. In season one, I stepped into the shoes of Sazz, the stunt double for my esteemed co-star, Steve Martin, who played the intriguing character Charles-Haden Savage. Let’s delve deeper to uncover more fascinating details!

More recently, Jane Lynch graced the red carpet for the Los Angeles debut of Only Murders in the Building season four alongside her fellow stars, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. In an interview with People magazine at the event, Lynch shared insights about her character, Sazz Pataki, who is Charles’ stunt double.

In the forthcoming fourth season, Mabel Mora (played by Gomez), Oliver Putnam (Short), and Charles-Hayden Savage (Martin) will delve into the enigmatic killing of Sazz Pataki, a death that occurred in Charles’s apartment towards the conclusion of the previous season.

During rehearsals for their scenes together, the Straight Talk actress admitted to carefully studying Martin’s actions. She keeps a close eye on him, observing his behavior at various points in time. If Martin decides to mix things up or change the routine, she emphasized that it requires her to be alert and adapt quickly.

She went on to explain that when working with the Grand Canyon actor, she often copies his actions for a bit of fun, stating that they don’t overuse this technique but it works well when employed occasionally. The interviewer then inquired if she ever feels anxious about mimicking him, and the Fatal Instinct actress assured that she doesn’t attempt to imitate either him or his character, Charles.

In simpler terms, Lynch stated that Sazz is simply being herself through her character. The actress playfully mentioned that during action sequences in the new season, there are instances where Sazz (or maybe the actor) gets nervous and freezes, so she has to tap him and step in to perform the risky stunts while he relaxes with a cup of cappuccino.

Apart from sharing her views, Gomez also spoke about collaborating with her co-stars, Steve Martin and Martin Short. She confided in the media outlet that it’s genuinely delightful to rise each day and head to set alongside these two seasoned actors, mentioning that their camaraderie during filming was nothing short of enjoyable.

Mark my words, folks! I’m thrilled to announce that come August 27, 2024, we’ll be diving back into the captivating world of “Only Murder in the Building” on Hulu. Alongside our beloved trio – Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin – we’ve got some exciting newcomers joining us!
