James Spader Returns as Ultron in Marvel’s ‘Vision,’ with Elizabeth Olsen Potentially Reprising Scarlet Witch Role

As a die-hard Marvel fan who has been following the cinematic universe since its inception, I must say that the news of another spinoff series centered around White Vision and Ultron is nothing short of exhilarating! The fact that James Spader is returning as Ultron, possibly with a more significant role this time around, has my heart racing with anticipation.

Back in October 2022, news broke about a new spin-off series of “WandaVision,” focusing on the character White Vision. Jac Schaeffer was appointed as the main writer and executive producer for this project. By May 2023, Eileen Shim had become part of the writing team.

Instead, Schaeffer moved his attention towards “Agatha All Along,” with Terry Matalas now taking charge of the show. Notably, Matalas is recognized for his work on “Star Trek: Picard.” With this change, Marvel has given the go-ahead to its first new live-action series in almost two years, signaling a significant adjustment in their TV production strategy for Disney+.

2026 can’t come soon enough for me, as I eagerly anticipate the return of Paul Bettany as White Vision! It’s not just him, though; James Spader is coming back too, stepping once again into the shoes of Ultron. Interestingly, Spader might have a bigger part to play in this upcoming series than just providing voiceovers – he voiced Ultron in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

As suggested by Deadline, there’s a possibility that Elizabeth Olsen‘s character, Scarlet Witch, could show up, although this hasn’t been formally verified yet. In the final episode of WandaVision, S.W.O.R.D. crafted White Vision, and Wanda tried to rekindle his memories with the Mind Stone, igniting a thought-provoking discussion about what truly defines a person as the “real” Vision. Eventually, White Vision recovered his memories and departed without providing an explanation, leaving his future unclear.

The upcoming series is predicted to occur following the events shown in WandaVision, and there’s talk that it might be a trilogy. The second part is believed to be Agatha All Along, while the third could be Marvel’s White Vision project.
