Drake & Benny The Butcher drop their song ‘Buffalo Freestyle’

As a long-time fan of both Drake and Benny The Butcher, I must say that the release of their highly anticipated collaboration, “Buffalo Freestyle,” has been a true highlight of my musical year! It’s fascinating to witness two gifted rappers, each with distinct narratives, come together to create something magical.

After a long wait spanning multiple years, the collaboration between Drake and Benny The Butcher, titled “Buffalo Freestyle”, has finally dropped. This track can be found on Benny’s recently released 3-song EP called “Buffalo Butch“, which hit the airwaves this past Friday, August 23rd.

For a while now, Griselda’s rapper has been discussing a song, which many anticipated to appear on Drake’s 2021 album titled “Certified Lover Boy.” In this collaboration, the two gifted emcees trade boastful verses, with Drake rapping about his everyday life as one of hip-hop’s leading artists.

1. “Psychic readings, business gatherings, lunch meetings / Financial backing, physical exercise routines, ab workouts / Preparations, citrus squeezes, tropical breezes / Press statements, passionate speeches, juggling tasks / Transfers of knowledge, strong connections, decisive actions / What’s happening now,” says Drake.

Later on, Benny joins in and rhymes about his transformation from a street-dweller to a prosperous artist. “I’m here to voice for the optimists, maintaining authenticity / My phone screen down at the bar, enjoying drinks at Komodo / I fear these rooftop discussions might lead to jail time / But it brings joy to my heart when things start looking brighter / Despite all your good wishes, I keep a safe distance / They hope my success tales won’t become tragic stories,” he raps.

Benny’s “Buffalo Butch” EP signifies the third release from him this year, following his Def Jam debut “Everybody Can’t Go” in January and “Summertime Butch” in early August. The other two tracks on “Buffalo Butch” are “Penny & Shaq Freestyle,” featuring 38 Spesh, and “Hard Way Freestyle,” featuring Fabolous.

As a gamer, I find myself scratching my head about the absence of the “Buffalo Freestyle” featuring Drake in Benny’s Def Jam debut. Maybe it boils down to Drake having creative control over its release timing.

As a gamer, I’d say, “I once had a pal tell Connected, as reported by HipHopDX, that Drake is just Drake. He’s the biggest artist globally, so you never know where his music will end up. We got the track, and I played it for my crew. It’s got a great feel to it, and he’ll decide where to drop it.”
