Black Myth Wukong: Chen Loong Quest and Secret NPC Hub Guide

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Black Myth Wukong has truly outdone itself with its intricate and hidden questlines. The Chen Loong secret quest is a perfect example of this, offering a challenge that’s as rewarding as it is elusive.

One of the many amazing things about Black Myth Wukong is just how many optional bosses you can find. Even with how the game encourages exploration, so many of these bosses are missable from the sheer size of the game alone. One of the best ones of course is also the hardest to find. This is the Chen Loong secret quest and the secret NPC hub area. Below, I walk you through exactly how to find this and what to do to complete it.

1st, navigate to Chapter 3 within Black Myth Wukong, then proceed to Bitter Lake section, specifically the North Shore of the Bitter Lake shrine. Upon arrival at the shrine, veer left and move behind the colossal head – it’s hard to overlook but you might still miss that particular action. You will spot Chen Loong far away in the distance. He may be easy to ignore due to the deceptive appearance of the water, as it seems impassable, yet it is possible to traverse it. A challenging battle awaits against him. Defeating Chen Loong requires a special bone pellet, which you can obtain from Xu Dog in Chapter 2. As a reminder, this is part of the story, and Xu Dog is found in the cellar of the crouching tiger temple shrine. You can visit there to collect the pellet and return it to Chen Loong when needed.

At this juncture, you’ll discover a unique moment featuring a hidden scroll. Unveiling it will transport your character into the scroll, guiding them to a concealed central hub location. This place gathers all game NPCs together, making upgrades effortless and enabling you to utilize seeds found for materials. Yet, the key highlight is situated at the rear of the area, where Yin Tiger, the blacksmith, resides.

Yin is an impressive character who can boost your equipment to various stages. Not only that, but he’s also the most challenging adversary in the game thus far, should you decide to face him in battle. If you manage to defeat him, you’ll be granted access to the top-tier armor and transformation currently available in the game. As a reward for your victory, you’ll receive the Iron Tough armor set and the ability to transform into Yin yourself. This transformation is different from a spirit, so you’ll have plenty of time to launch attacks.

Through the Yin transformation, you can unleash an array of intense attacks spanning almost the full screen’s width. Although it may seem sluggish, after a series of attacks, your heavy gauge will provide access to the same fiery sword attack. This is particularly useful for the Chi-bai spear quest, which you might encounter in chapter 3. Keep in mind that transformations have their own health meter separate from yours. The Yin transformation offers a powerful attack that’s advantageous against the enemies in this region – spoiler-free information.
