Marvel’s Wonder Man Absolutely Tanks: Lowest Ratings, Rejected By Fans

After all eight episodes of Marvel’s Wonder Man became available on Disney+, it finally appeared on the Nielsen streaming charts, but the viewership numbers suggest there may be issues with how Marvel shows are performing on the platform.

Wonder Man hits Nielsen, but the minutes are brutal

According to Nielsen’s ratings for the week of January 26th to February 1st, 2026, the original series Wonder Man ranked at number 8 with 618 million minutes viewed. All eight episodes were released on January 27th.

That breaks down to just 77.25 million minutes per episode.

That’s a fairly low average viewership per episode for a full season release, and it appears to be the lowest yet for any Marvel series on Disney+.

Echo pulled more than double the per-episode watch time

Echo also dropped all its episodes at once, and it still did far better on a per-episode basis.

During the week of January 8th to 14th, 2024, viewers spent a total of 731 million minutes watching Echo. With five episodes released, that averages out to approximately 146.2 million minutes watched per episode.

Even the least popular previous Marvel shows on Disney+ were watched for significantly longer per episode than Wonder Man.

Showrunner admits the series tested poorly

And it gets worse.

Wonder Man showrunner Andrew Guest also confirmed it was a fight just to get the series made.

I was really struck by what Dave Bautista shared on The Watch podcast. He said filming was genuinely dangerous at times – they nearly didn’t make it through a few scenes! He also painted a picture of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as one of the last projects greenlit during that initial rush of Disney+ Marvel shows, when they were saying ‘yes’ to pretty much everything. It sounds like things were a bit chaotic behind the scenes, and they were lucky to get it done.

Guest explained that early test screenings for the first two episodes weren’t well-received after the show was approved. Unlike with Daredevil: Born Again – which performed poorly and wasn’t even measured by Nielsen – Marvel didn’t rework the episodes or cancel the project. Instead, they decided to try a different marketing approach, which ultimately didn’t work, as many predicted.

Filmed years ago, and Marvel has already moved on

Wonder Man was filmed a while back, and since then, Marvel has changed its plans for Disney+, reducing spending and making fewer shows. Given the show’s ratings, it’s unlikely to be renewed for another season.
