As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that I’ve never been this captivated by the process art of a game before. The transformation from idea to reality is always fascinating, but when it comes to the crystallized forms of Disney heroines, it’s nothing short of magical!
Illustration is one of the closest things to magic that we have in our world. The process of a drawing coming to life is one of the purest forms of creation we can witness. And when that combines with the wonder of Disney and its heroines, it’s awe-inspiring indeed. And so, it is our great honor to reveal some exclusive pieces of process art from the new Ravensburger game Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls (Disney Edition). These six pieces of art tell a wonderful story as they move from idea to final form, chronicling the journey of how the box art for Chronicles of Light came to fruition. Showcased here are the game’s crystal forms of Disney and Pixar’s Maid Marian, Belle, Moana, and Violet. We honestly can’t stop looking at them, and incredibly, their story is even more powerful than just how lovely these drawings are.
Ravensburger’s Alex Land, Art Director for “Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls (Disney Edition)”, explained to TopMob the motivation behind the crystalline shapes of the heroines in this game. She disclosed, “The team settled on the visual concept early and drew inspiration from jewelry and crystal-cut figurines, which are both aesthetically pleasing and feminine, much like the heroines in the game. The sharp angles in the jewelry provide a touch of toughness, and they also let light pass through prisms. The characters in the game embody heroic qualities such as bringing light and strength during dark times, which is reflected in these crystalline forms.”
As a gamer, I’m utterly smitten with the crystal motif for the heroines in the Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls (Disney Edition). The concept that crystals can be both stunningly beautiful and robust resonates deeply with me. Just like these heroines, crystals radiate light and grace, but their strength lies not just in their beauty, but also in their sharp, angular edges.
In summary, Land suggests that the game “Chronicles of Light” features female characters who are active heroines, rather than passive ones. These characters work together and support each other, encouraging a mindset where players can imagine themselves in similar empowered roles. The art and story within the game effectively convey this theme.
As an avid fan, I’m thrilled to announce that the captivating tale, Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls (Disney Edition), is now up for grabs! Here’s a sneak peek at its fascinating storyline:
In the Disney Edition of Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls (Chronicles of Light), players unite to create powerful alliances featuring beloved Disney and Pixar heroines. These include Moana, Violet from The Incredibles, Maid Marian, and Belle. Appearing as brilliant crystal entities summoned into the realm, these heroines banish the darkness cast by notorious Disney Villains and return light to the world. Throughout their journey, the team delves into a freshly illustrated landscape, meeting familiar faces, objects, and creatures on their various quests. Notably, this game is entirely designed and illustrated by women, offering unique missions and a modular board that provides new experiences with each play.
