Homeland Stars Claire Danes and Damian Lewis Remind Timothée Chalamet Who Made Him

Claire Danes and Damian Lewis brought a fun surprise to the Actor Awards on Sunday night, playfully claiming responsibility for the success of a major Hollywood star. The former Homeland co-stars presented the award for Best Drama Series Ensemble at the Shrine Auditorium, but first took a moment to reminisce about their show’s past. They walked onstage holding hands and reminded everyone that Timothée Chalamet, now a 30-year-old Oscar favorite, first gained recognition as a recurring teenage character in season two of their CIA thriller.

During the presentation, Lewis playfully asked Claire Danes if Homeland had ever won an award for outstanding ensemble cast. Danes responded with a laugh, saying it hadn’t, and that they were there hoping for a second chance. Lewis then jokingly brushed aside the shows that had previously beaten them, like Downton Abbey and Breaking Bad, before playfully addressing Timothée Chalamet, who was in the audience as a nominee for Marty Supreme.

Greta Dane highlighted the impressive talent in their cast, but her funniest moment involved Timothée Chalamet. She playfully asked the audience, “We even had Timothée Chalamet on our show – where do you think he learned to cope with the intensity of a Safdie brothers film?”

Lewis continued the joke, jokingly threatening his former co-star. “We made you, Timothée,” he said with a laugh. “Just saying. And we’re ready to demand a recount!”

It was a special moment for Timothée Chalamet, who recently presented his new film with his co-stars. Years earlier, in 2012, he had a role on the show Homeland as Finn Walden, the Vice President’s son and a character involved in a sad love story.

Back in 2013, a teenage Chalamet was part of the Homeland cast nominated for an award, though they didn’t win – the award went to the cast of Downton Abbey. This playful rivalry is happening as Chalamet is enjoying a huge surge in his career.

He’s currently receiving a lot of attention for his role in Marty Supreme, a new film directed by Josh Safdie, where he plays ping-pong star Marty Mauser. The film, released by A24, has been a critical and commercial hit, earning Chalamet a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy and making him a strong contender for the upcoming Academy Awards on March 15.

Timothée Chalamet has a busy rest of the year. He’ll be back on screen in December with Dune: Part Three, the concluding film in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune saga, based on Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah. He’ll once again play Paul Atreides alongside Zendaya and Florence Pugh, and Robert Pattinson is rumored to be joining the cast in a significant new role.

Beyond big-budget films, Chalamet is also developing a thriller called High Side with director James Mangold, where he’ll play a former motorcycle racer. He’s even stepped into producing, earning a Best Picture nomination this year for Marty Supreme. From finishing epic film series to continuing his success in independent films, Chalamet has come a long way since his early days – though his Homeland family still likes to remind him where he started.
